Wang Xia, female, has been illegally detained in the No.2 Prison in Hohhot City. Because she refused to write a "statement of guarantee" not to practice Falun Gong, the police beat her so badly that she had to be sent to the prison hospital. She has been on a hunger strike over for 40 days to protest the inhumane treatment. No one knows whether she is still alive.

Zhao Xiulan and her sister Zhao Xiuyun, who is pregnant, are Falun Dafa practitioners from Heiwang Town, Zibo City, of Shandong Province. Both of them were arrested and sent to the local 610 Office's [the 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] brainwashing center in Taihe Township. Officers from the 610 Office told Zhao Xiuyun that they would force her to have an abortion if she did not give up Falun Dafa.

[Zibo City, Shandong Province] The Torture of Over Twenty Detained Falun Dafa Practitioners
On February 8, 2003, over 20 Falun Dafa practitioners were illegally detained in the Qiugu Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. They were tortured after they solemnly declared that they would continue to practice Falun Dafa. One of the practitioners, Huang Futang, was tortured with electric batons for nearly three hours.

[Wuhan City, Hubei Province] The Extreme Torture of Falun Dafa Practitioner Sun Yumei in the Wuhan Female Prison
Sun Yumei, a practitioner from the "Women's Association" in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, went to Beijing on December 1, 2000 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa. She was arrested in Tiananmen Square while clarifying the truth. She was then illegally sentenced to a three-year prison term. She is in jail at Branch 2 of the No. 2 Section of the Wuhan Female Prison, located at No. 81 Baofeng Road, Qiaokou District of Wuhan City, Hubei Province. Because she is steadfast in her belief in Falun Dafa, she is forced to do heavy labor for more than ten hours a day, is not given enough food, and is tortured by various means. She has been beaten black and blue, has bruises all over her body, and has lost a great deal of weight. The prison is even intensifying the persecution by using the most vicious personnel to torture her.

At the end of last October, the 610 Office in the Changping District, together with the police from the Public Security Bureau and the National Security Department, illegally arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Jinju. She has been detained for about five months already, because she refused to be brainwashed . Before the "Two Conferences," they arrested practitioner Li Mingxia and sent her to the brainwashing center as well. Li Mingxia's sister (a non-practitioner) was also arrested because, according to the police, "she must have been influenced by Falun Gong."

[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] High School Teacher Persecuted
Yuan Bin, male, 35 years old, is a teacher at the Laodai High School. In July 2000, he was illegally detained at the Longquanyi Police Department for 40 days because he went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. When he was in custody, the police forced him to do hard labor for over ten hours each day, and extorted 5000 Yuan (equal to ten months income for an average urban worker in China) from him without giving him a receipt. From January 5, 2001, until January 4, 2002, he was illegally detained in the Qinghua Forced Labor Camp in Sichuan Province because he wrote to the authorities telling them the facts about Falun Dafa. After he was released, the police strictly monitored Yuan Bin's daily activities. At the end of September 2002, simply because he came back home a bit late one day, more than ten officers from the local 610 Office forcibly searched his home and threatened his family members. He Xiwen, who is mainly responsible for persecuting Yuan, instructed people to search for him everywhere. From the end of September to the end of November 2002, Yuan was placed under house arrest. He is still being watched. He has lost almost all of his personal freedom.

The Erdaopeng Law Education Class, located in the Jinaghan District of Wuhan City, is in fact a brainwashing center. The staff there claim that they will beat Falun Dafa practitioners physically and torment them emotionally. They force practitioners to stand for long periods of time in cold, breezy quarters. They don't give practitioners enough food and deprive them of sleep. They also ask former practitioners, who were transformed under pressure and extreme torture, to defame Dafa in front of the steadfast practitioners. Because of these extreme conditions, some practitioners wrote "Guarantee Statements" [A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.]. When these practitioners came to their senses, they declared that what they had written was null and void, that they would cultivate more diligently to make up for their mistakes.

The Hewan Forced Labor Camp doesn't allow practitioners to talk to each other. Other inmates are often ordered to persecute practitioners. Since some policemen were afraid of being exposed on the Clearwisdom website, they don't beat practitioners in public. Instead, they beat and torture practitioners in private offices. These policemen also induce other inmates, under the incentive of having their sentences reduced, to defame Dafa and persecute Dafa practitioners. When practitioners are on hunger strike, the police simply ignore them for the first five days. Then they forcibly drag them, individually, to their office to force-feed them. They hold down practitioners to a chair and force-feed them by inserting a pipe through the nose. If one nostril bleeds, the police transfer the pipe to the other one. After force-feeding, they simply wash the pipe with water and use it to force-feed the next practitioner.

[Shanghai City] Persecution of a Family that Practices Falun Gong
Chen Wenying, female, around 40 years old, was illegally detained in the Shanghai Female Forced Labor Camp for two years. There she was hung up in the air, handcuffed, forced to stand against the wall for long periods, placed in solitary confinement, etc. She was handcuffed for two days and nights. The handcuffs were not even removed when she went to the washroom. As a result of the severe persecution, she suffered a mental collapse. However, the forced labor camp said that she was pretending, so they still tried to force her to write a "Guarantee Statement." When she refused, she was not allowed to sleep. When she was released, after the completion of her term, she really did stay in a mental hospital for two months. The doctors there confirmed that she really was suffering from a mental disorder. Over 7000 Yuan has been spent on medicine, and her body is deformed from all of the abuse she suffered.
Guo Jinfu, male, over 40 years old, was destitute and remained homeless for nearly a year in order to avoid illegal detention and torture. Shanghai officials put him on the most-wanted list as a major criminal. Later, when the police substations were examining households in the city, looking for Falun Gong practitioners, they found and arrested him. In the police substation, they cuffed his hands and feet for 9 days and nights. Then they illegally sentenced him to two and a half years in a forced labor camp. While in detention, they tried to coerce him into reporting on and denouncing other practitioners, forced him to do hard labor for long hours, and to write a "statement of guarantee." The torture almost made him suffer a mental collapse. He is still in a solitary compartment under the strict supervision of four people.
Guo Jinfu's nephew, around 20 years old, was illegally sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. He was detained in the No.1 Shanghai Forced Labor Camp in Dafeng City, Jiangsu Province, for nearly one and one-half years. Then he was transferred to the No. 3 Qingpu Forced Labor Camp in Shanghai. He suffered a mental collapse due to the severity of the persecution. In order to dodge their responsibility, the forced labor camp asked his family to bail him out so that he could get medical treatment. He is now being treated in a mental hospital.
When the Guo Jinfu couple was in custody, their daughter, a seventh grade student, was left alone at home.
