Yao Zhijun, 41, male, went to Beijing to appeal in July 1999, and was detained by the local police for 24 hours. On July 11, 2000, he was tricked into coming to the township office by the local "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] and was illegally detained for 13 days and fined 600 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan]. On December 15, 2000 he was illegally detained for 15 days for saying "Yes" when asked if he would keep on practicing Falun Gong. On August 28, 2001, he was forced to leave home to avoid being sent to a brainwashing class.
Yang Lisen, 42, male, was detained in July 1999, by the local police for 24 hours. While working in the Dabaiyang gold mine, he was illegally put under house arrest for three months. On August 28, 2001, he was forced to leave home to avoid being sent to a brainwashing class.
Liu Qianxiang, 45, male, went to Beijing to appeal on July 19,1999, and was detained by the local police for 24 hours. In July 2000, his home was illegally searched after his wife went to Beijing to appeal, and he had 2500 Yuan extorted from him. On December 2000, he was illegally detained for 15 days and had the sum of 250 Yuan extorted from him "Yes" when asked if he would keep practicing Falun Gong. Since both he and his wife were detained, his 6-year-old son was left home alone. On July 31, 2001, he was forced into a brainwashing class and forced labor camp. On September 13, 2002, he was illegally arrested and sent to the Xuanhua Detention Center where he is still currently being detainedbeing.
Pei Shendou is a 43 year old male. His home was illegally searched, and he was fined and forced into a brainwashing class. He has been illegally held at the Xuanhua Detention Center.
Cao Yuping is a 41 year old female. After she returned from appealing in Beijing, her captors tried to force her to appear in a propaganda video, but she refused. Her Dafa books were taken away and she was fined 100 Yuan. Since July 10, 2000, she has been illegally detained for 14 days by the local police and was fined 600Yuan.
Yan Yumei, 53, female, went to Beijing to appeal on July 10, 2000, and was subsequently sent to the Xuanhua Detention Center by the local police, then illegally detained there for 15 days. Additionally, she had the sum of 2,250 Yuan extorted from her. After refusing to be brainwashed, she left home on August 18, 2001, but was arrested and illegally held at the Xuanhua Detention Center for over two months. On May 12, 2001, she was forced into a detention center for 15 days by the township "610 Office". While she was away, her home was under police surveillance many times. In October of 2001, she was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp, but was not detained for physical reasons.
Wang Yulian, 38, female, went to Beijing on July 20, 1999, to appeal. After returning home, she had 600 Yuan extorted from her and was also forced to pay an additional 100 Yuan transportation fee to the police. Beginning December 14, 2000, she was illegally held at the Xuanhua Detention Center for 15 days, forced to pay 150 Yuan in meal fees, and another 100 Yuan for a bus ticket. She was also illegally detained at the township office from July 10th until July 24th. In 2001, she was forced into the county Communist Party school for one week for forced brainwashing.
Yan Xiuzhen, 51, female, went to Beijing on July 10, 2000, to appeal. After returning home she was sent to the Xuanhua Detention Center by orders of the local police, illegally detained there for 15 days, and extorted of 2,250 Yuan; even the 30 Yuan she carried with her was taken away. Her farm work was interrupted, and she now is in debt by over 4000 Yuan.
Wang Yuqin, 40, female, went to Beijing to appeal on July 19, 1999. After returning home, she was illegally detained by the local police for three days, and had 100 Yuan extorted from her. On July 10, 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Dafa, but was illegally detained by the local police for 15 days, fined 500 Yuan, and another 100 Yuan in meal fees taken from her. After being released she was forced to report to the village office three times a day for three months while the township officers ate at her home every day. Since she did not give up the practice of Falun Gong, in December 2000, the local police handcuffed her and illegally sent her to a detention center, holding her there for 15 days. At that time she was had 3000 Yuan extorted from her. In mid-July, 2001, she was forced into a brainwashing class.
Yan Xiuzhi is a 39 year old female. In 1999, her home was illegally searched, and Dafa books, videos, and audio tapes totally approximately 1000 Yuan were confiscated by police. On July 10, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal, was arrested and sent back, then held by the local police together with her husband. Her 6-year-old son was left at home, alone. After being tortured by the township officials, she was sent to the Xuanhua Detention Center and held for 15 days. The township "610 Office" head Zhao Zhanjin forced her husband to borrow money, forbid him from working, extorted 2000 Yuan from him, then another 500 Yuan for meal fees. In December 2000, since the couple continued practicing Falun Gong, they were illegally detained once more for half a month, and had an additional 500 Yuan from them. After being released, they were forced to report to the village office three times per day for three months. Each day, 7 to 8 officers from the "610 Office" would have lunch in her home. On September 13, 2002, her husband, Liu Qianxiang, was arrested again, and has yet to be released.
Yang Xiuying, a 38 year old female, was illegally detained in July 2000, at the local police station. She was held for 13 days, and was forced to pay 500 Yuan. In July 2001, she was sent against her will to county communist party school for brainwashing.
Liu Xianzhi, 44, female, went to Beijing to appeal on July 10, 2000. Her home was illegally searched, she was fired from her job, and had 2000 Yuan extorted from her. Even her family members were interrogated under torture. She was detained for 15 days. The township officials ate in her home every day for a long time. In October 2000, since she said she would continue practicing Falun Gong, she was detained by the local police for half a month, and forced to pay an additional 3000 Yuan, plus another 500 Yuan for incidentals, and still another 1000 Yuan as a cash pledge. This caused great mental suffering and a huge financial burden to her family to her family.
Zhang Cuilan, a 64 year old female went to Beijing to appeal on July 10, 2000. She was then sent to the Xuanhua Detention Center and illegally held for 15 days, and forced to pay 2500 Yuan. On December 15, 2002, because she said she would continue the practice of Falun Gong, she was again held at the Xuanhua Detention Center.
Yu Shanlin, 75, female, was forced to pay money to the local.
Liu Chunye is a 36 year old female. After July 20, 1999, her family suffered great hardship after being fined 2000 Yuan. At the township office she was hung up with ropes and tortured, then further tortured at the Xuanhua Detention Center. Her husband and children were terrified. She was forced to report to the village office three times per day.
Fan Huaixian, 71, female, was fined 500 Yuan by the local police. The township officers also cursed her. She was illegally detained for half a month in the town while paying for her own meals. Since no practicing of Falun Gong was allowed, serious diseases that had been cured when she practiced Falun Gong returned to her body.
After July 20, 1999, the county, the township "610 Office", the public security bureau, and the police forced Wu Youxiang (male, 59), Yue Guifeng (female, 57), Wang Guizhi (female, 40), Yan Haixia (female, 33), Li Jinzhi (female, 37), and Li Pengfang (female, 38) to attend a meeting at the local police station. They were forced to give up their Dafa books, and threatened that they must give up the practice of Falun Gong or risk being detained. Later, they were brainwashed for 6 days in the village office while being illegally monitored. They had no freedom. Meals were sent in by their families, going home was not allowed. They slept on the tables and chairs during the night. Sometimes, they were forced to work while being cursed at. After being released, they were forced to report to the village office three times per day for over two months. The rule was that whenever the loudspeaker sounded, they must show up. Much of their farm work was delayed, and each person was fined 300 Yuan. Such reporting to the village office would again be enforced whenever they felt it was a sensitive date, such as the New Year, and each time it lasted for a long period of time.
