A fellow practitioner mentioned to us that another practitioner hadn't received any Dafa materials for more than a year, ever since he was victimized by the persecution. Most of us, including myself, were indifferent about it. Some of the other practitioners were worried and suspicious. One day, a fellow practitioner decided to go visit him. He said, "... with a compassion that can melt steel you'll be able to do well." ("Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference", provisional translation subject to further improvement). His eyes brimmed with tears and his voice a bit choked when he said it.. My heart was shaken. How wonderful it would be if we could all be filled with the compassion that can melt steel!
I knew this was a good thing to do, though we would have to overcome a lot of difficulties, and decided to go with him. We selected a good time and prepared the things we would take, but when it was time to leave, my fellow practitioner was still watching TV with his family. I began to get anxious and mad. I said in cold voice, "You must be very interested in this program!" He didn't reply, but walked out with me.
I felt a little awkward on the way. The Fa that Teacher told us merged clearly in my mind, "Everybody can share their views and you can evaluate them in a kind manner." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston") I could have reminded him that it was time and we were ready to go, but it wasn't very kind of me to get anxious and mad when things didn't happen as I had expected. Under any circumstance, it is hard to speak and act kindly if one deviates from "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance".
I wanted to apologize and ended up quietly saying, from the bottom of my heart, "I am sorry! I not only failed to be kind to you, but also failed to practice "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance". He seemed not to have noticed it. The car was running fast in the wind and it seemed as if nothing had happened. Everything seemed so clear and harmonious. At that moment, I felt that we were really one body.
Beyond our expectations, the couple we went to visit was surprised and excited to see us. They had never imagined that we would come to see them. They made two huge bowls of egg-drop soup, held them with both hands and asked us to finish it all. Even though they had never met me, there was no suspicion or barrier between us. It is only in Dafa that we can find such harmony and pure land in the world. Excited, the practitioners took Teacher's new lectures with both hands. It was clear they treasured them greatly. When we were ready to leave, both the husband and the wife suddenly remembered something. The husband took his money out of his pocket, added what his wife had 300 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] and insisted with tears, "This is our contribution." They asked us to print more truth-clarification materials to save sentient beings with the money. We found out later that the police had earlier kidnapped them, and they had thousands of Yuan extorted from them by the corrupt police. They were still in debt more than ten thousand Yuan. What they gave to us was the money that the husband had earned through the hard work of driving a pedi-cab.
On our way back, my fellow practitioner said, "We didn't come for nothing. It would have been our fault if we had not come." I realized in my heart that we are all one body. By looking inside ourselves and eliminating our own problems, we can get together without leaving gaps and accomplish our missions. I truly felt our strength as one body. Teacher told us, "The next person's things are your things, and your things are his things." ("Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference") I think I know how to do my part better in the future.
