On May 10, 2003, the police in Changli County, Qinhuangdao City, arrested five Dafa practitioners for distributing Dafa materials. It is not known where these practitioners are being held.
At present, 10 Dafa practitioners are being illegally detained at the Changli Brainwashing Center and they include Li Xin, Li Lan, Tao Xiaoping (male), Wang Shumei, and Ms. Lang. They were all arrested before last year's 16th Party Congress, and some of them have been jailed for two and a half years. A young mother and her 3-year-old daughter have been detained for nearly two years. When they were first brought here, the child was only one year old.
The staff members at the brainwashing center, numbering over thirty, utilize various means to persecute practitioners. They deprive practitioners of sleep, and inundate them with various lies. They once slandered Dafa on TV and were rewarded by their superiors. Every year, they receive a huge amount of money from the central government for persecuting Dafa practitioners.
