(Clearwisdom.net) On May 12th 2003, Falun Gong practitioners in Stockholm produced their first TV broadcast for an Open Channel on Swedish TV. The Open Channel is a local TV channel that broadcasts throughout many of Sweden's cities. Previously, practitioners broadcast programs in Stockholm and V ster s about Falun Gong and the persecution in China. However, all of these programs were produced abroad. Now practitioners are broadcasting their own original programs that were produced in Sweden.
At the TV studio, the program's host and three guests discussed the appeal on Tiananmen Square in 2001, when a group of 36 western Falun Gong practitioners travelled to China to stage a peaceful demonstration, and to protest against the Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Practitioners hoped that this program could show Chinese people that Falun Gong is practised in many countries, contrary to the claims of Jiang's state-controlled media.
The program opened with questions about the persecution and why Tiananmen Square was chosen as the place to hold the demonstration. Next a film was screened which included interviews with two Canadian practitioners on why they went to appeal in China. The film also showed part of the demonstration and the arrest, which was filmed using a concealed camera. When the film ended, the guests, who also participated in the demonstration, described their experiences: what it was like being on Tiananmen Square, how they were treated, and why they chose to go there.
