1. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Authorities in Taihe District Call Emergency Meeting in Preparation for a New Round of Persecution Against Falun Dafa Practitioners
From 9:00 p.m. May 13 to 1:00 a.m. May 14, 2003, over 250 people from the Taihe Division of the Police Station, the Crime Team, and Joint Security Teams attended an emergency meeting. The meeting announced a notification from the Liaoning Provincial Government stating the following directives:
(1) The home of any Falun Dafa practitioners reported by informers will be searched. If a single Falun Gong book is found, the practitioner will be sentenced to prison.
(2) Any Falun Dafa practitioner who has unfurled banners, written posts, or delivered leaflets will be sentenced to prison upon discovery.
(3) Starting May 13, police patrols are scheduled all night every night. There are two shifts, one for the first half and the other for the second half of the night.
(4) Starting May 13, the next 100 days will be a period of so-called "harsh crackdown." Police officers will be substantially rewarded for catching any Falun Gong practitioners.
2. [Southern China] Falun Dafa Practitioners Unfurl a Banner from a Tall Downtown Building, "Celebrating the 11th Anniversary of Falun Dafa's Introduction to the World"
At 11:00 a.m. on May 13, Falun Dafa practitioners unfurled a 10-foot long banner from a tall downtown building in a city in southern China. The yellow banner with red characters read, "Celebrating the 11th Anniversary of Falun Gong's Introduction to the World! Falun Dafa Is Good!" The local weather reports had forecasted storms on May 13. However, it turned out to be a sunny day.
3. [Northern China] Falun Dafa Practitioners Successfully Hold a Fa Conference on World Falun Dafa Day
On May 13, World Falun Dafa Day, practitioners in a northern city successfully held a solemn Fa Conference. It lasted six hours. Falun Dafa practitioners actively shared their experiences of Teacher's guidance in doing the three things -- clarifying the facts, sending righteous thoughts, and studying the Fa. Attendees have once again felt the mighty power of righteous thoughts as well as the immense blessings from Teacher, and they have understood better the overall coordination required amongst all practitioners. All attendees also gained new understandings on how to increase cohesion amongst themselves, on the basis of the Fa.
4. [Northeast China] Over 80 Falun Dafa Practitioners Attend a Large-scale Fa Conference Successfully Held on World Falun Dafa Day
Under the caring protection of Teacher, over 80 Falun Dafa practitioners in northeast China successfully held their first large-scale experience sharing conference on May 13 -- a World Falun Dafa Day of special significance. Practitioners actively shared their thoughts about walking down the sacred path of helping Teacher to rectify the Fa and offering salvation to all sentient beings. The meeting was filled with a solemn, peaceful, and compassionate atmosphere, reflecting the practitioners' determination in following Teacher's arrangement to carry out righteous actions with righteous thoughts. Through the conference, the practitioners have greatly intimidated and eliminated the evil.
5. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Geng Guoge and Another Falun Dafa Practitioner Are Abducted by the Police
At 9:10 p.m. on May 13, Geng Guoge was talking to Meng Qingxiang's wife, whose name isn't known, on the sidewalk. Two police officers followed them, then arrested them. The two practitioners were carrying a computer and a box of CDs with them.
6. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Yin from Taihe District Is Unlawfully Arrested by the Police
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on May 13th, several police officers from the Taihe Division Police Department and the Nu'erhe Township Police Station unlawfully arrested Zhang Yin. His home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and videotapes were confiscated.
7. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Li Yajuan and Li Hui Are Abducted by Police Officers from the Xijiao Police Station in Taihe District
On May 6, 2003, Li Yajuan and Li Hui were clarifying the facts of Falun Dafa and the persecution at the gate of the Taihe District No. 1 High School when officers from the Xijiao Police Station came and arrested them based on tips from informers. They are currently being held in the Jinzhou City No. 1 Detention Center.
8. [Yuanshi County, Hebei Province] Three Falun Dafa Practitioners Unlawfully Sentenced to Forced Labor
Falun Dafa practitioners Yuan Shuzhen and his daughter Yuan Cuihong are from Yuanshi County. In December 2002, two other practitioners who had been forced out of their homes were clarifying the facts together with Mr. Yuan and his daughter. Informers called the police, who arrested the four practitioners. The practitioners refused to give out their names, and one practitioner managed to escape using righteous thoughts. Police officers Su Chunxu and Shao Hong (female) at the County Political Security Section sent Mr. Yuan and his daughter to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp, each to serve a term of one year. The other practitioner had already been sent to the forced labor camp twice, but had been denied admission. On April 11, 2003, officers Su Chunxu and Shao Hong sent that practitioner to the forced labor camp for a 2-year term.
9. [Lanzhou, Gansu Province] The Persecution and Suffering of Falun Dafa Practitioners Tang Qianhua and Zhao Chuan
Ms. Tang Qianhua is over 30 years old. She lives at No. 87, Room 301 of the Construction and Engineering Bureau in Qilihe District. On the night of March 1, 2003, police officers from the Qilihe District Police Station arrested her at her home. The police then conducted a body search and ransacked her home. They forcibly took away Falun Gong materials. Ms. Tang is being held in the Xiguoyuan Detention Center in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. The evil forces are planning to unlawfully put her on trial.
Mr. Zhao Chuan is a Falun Dafa practitioner at the Lantong Factory in Qilihe District, Lanzhou City. In December 2001, he was unlawfully arrested by the local police while distributing materials containing facts about Falun Gong in Xining City, Qinghai Province. He refused to cooperate with the evil and did not provide his name or address. He also went on a hunger strike in protest of the illegal arrest. The police inhumanely force-fed him three times. He has been held in the Xining Detention Center for over half a year, suffering from all kinds of tortures and abuses. He was then unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Zhao is currently being held at the No. 5 Brigade of Strict Monitoring in the Duoba Forced Labor Camp in Xining City, Qinghai Province.
10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Lawless Officials in Changle County Send Falun Dafa Practitioners to a Brainwashing Center
Lawless officials of Changle County in Weifang City, Shandong Province have thrown Falun Dafa practitioners into the local brainwashing center to endure inhumane torture. In April, Falun Dafa practitioner Ma Guosheng of Houdianzi Village in Masong Town was abducted from his home. He is still being illegally detained as of this date.
11. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioner Yang Jinju from Changping District Is Again Sent to Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Yang Jinju was abducted and taken to the brainwashing center prior to the Party's 16th National Congress in November last year. She has remained steadfast in her belief in Falun Dafa. As a result, members of the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] have refused to release her, and her detention has dragged on for almost six months. Recently Ms. Yang was unlawfully sentenced to 2 years of forced labor. She is being held in the Women's Forced Labor Camp in Beijing, where she has already served a 1-year term of forced labor for appealing on behalf of Falun Gong in 2000.
12. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioners Yang Binghai and His Wife Yang Xiuling Are Abducted Again
On March 20, members of the "610 Office" abducted Yang Binghai and locked him in a brainwashing center for over a month. A few days after his release, he was taken away again. This time his wife, Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Xiuling, was also arrested. Both of them have been persecuted numerous times. Their son, who is about to take the national college enrollment exam, has also been intimidated and currently lives at home by himself.
13. [Beijing] The Chaoyang Division of the Police Department Unlawfully Arrests Falun Dafa Practitioners Lu Ling, Her Husband Lu Tao and Their Two Young Children
On May 8, 2003, Lu Lin, Lu Tao, and their two children (one is 5 years old and the other only 1 years old) were unlawfully arrested by the Chaoyang Division of the Police Department. Their home was searched and the police confiscated cash, deposit receipts, a computer, a printer, and other materials and books.
14. [Wuwei City, Gansu Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners from Wuwei City Are Arrested by Police in Jinchang City
At the beginning of May, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Yong and Guan Zhenyuan were arrested by police officers in Jinchang City, at a restaurant. Mr. Zhang and Mr. Guan had been forced to leave their homes to avoid the persecution of the Wuwei City "610 Office". The restaurant owner, Li Guiying, is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. Zhang Yong's wife is also a Falun Dafa practitioner, who has been unlawfully held in the Wuwei Detention Center for over a year. Their very young child was left at home unattended.
In the middle of April, 2003, another Falun Dafa practitioner, Ren Yunian from Hongxiang Township, was arrested by Wuwei City police and persecuted. Officer Chen Gong has been harassing families of Falun Dafa practitioners.
15. [Wuwei City, Gansu Province] Local Government Officials Violate Human Rights under the Excuse of SARS Prevention
On the morning of May 12, 2003, Wuwei TV Station broadcast a government order. Of the nine preventative measures against SARS, one calls for persecuting Falun Dafa. We call upon the attention of the international community to witness the human rights violations perpetrated by the Jiang Zemin regime under the excuse of SARS prevention.
16. [Suning County, Hebei Province] The Suning County Police Department Unlawfully Arrests and Brutally Tortures Falun Dafa Practitioners
From January 14 to March 21, 2003, the Suning Police Department placed three Falun Dafa practitioners under arrest. Police officers applied electric shocks to one of the arrested practitioners for several hours. They force-fed him, which led to bleeding of his stomach. Another practitioner was handcuffed to a steel cage for over seven hours. Then the police tortured him by pushing needles into his fingernails, earlobes, and the backs of his palms. They beat him on the head with clubs, and pressed a bar against his upper legs, then kicked and applied pressure to the bar. The officers stopped beating this practitioner only after he had lost consciousness. A few days later, they force-fed him and deprived him of sleep for four days and four nights. Again they beat him with clubs on his head, face, and back of the palms, and clamped his mouth with clamps. The thugs then fastened shackles around the practitioner's neck and poured ice water inside his clothes.
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Song Fengzhi was abducted on February 8 while she was going to a grocery store. After her hunger strike as well as a payment of 2,500 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] paid by her family, she was released on March 28. Ms. Xu Guiting was abducted from home while she was taking a rest. She was injured by police officer Li Chengxiang from the Suning County Police Department and was sent to the hospital. Under her family's insistence, she was released on March 29.
17. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] More Detentions of Dafa Practitioners
Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang Shouying and Si Yongli, from Dongneibao Village are unlawfully held in the Dingzhou City Chengbei detention center.
18. [Guangdong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhao Meiyu Is Taken Away by Police from Huizhou City, Guangdong Province
Ms. Zhao Meiyu lives in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. On May 14, members of the Huizhou City "610 Office" learned of her whereabouts from collaborators who had been brainwashed [collaborators are former Dafa practitioners who have renounced Falun Dafa due to brainwashing and torture]. The officers drove to her residence in Shenzhen City for a search, confiscating her cellular phone, address books, and Falun Dafa materials. The officers also unlawfully arrested Ms. Zhao. A brainwashing class is being held in Huizhou City as well.

19. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Benfang Is Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor for Publicly Expressing Her Determination in Practicing Falun Dafa
Around December 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Benfang, a senior nurse at the Jiangsu Provincial Tumor Hospital, located in Nanjing City, was unlawfully sentenced to one year of forced labor for publicly expressing her determination in practicing Falun Gong.
