(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa disciple Lan Qizhi, a woman in her thirties, is a computer engineer working for the Shijiazhuang Branch of the China Storage and Transportation Company. She was arrested by Shijiazhuang "610 Office"* personnel on September 28th, 2001. Along with eight other Dafa disciples who were arrested at the same time, Ms. Lan was secretly sentenced to imprisonment in a forced labor camp. Currently Lan Qizhi is being held in the Shijiazhuang Prison. The following is some additional background information.
In December 2000, one practitioner revealed Lan Qizhi's name under pressure. Lan Qizhi was thereby illegally detained for a week by persons from the Shijiazhuang Ordinance Institute Police Station. On August 28, 2001, Lan Qizhi's employer and the police abducted her using lies and deceit and sent her to the Nuclear Industry Ministry's 4th Designing Institute guesthouse. The "610 Office" uses this location as a brainwashing center to persecute steadfast Dafa disciples. Ms. Lan escaped with righteous thoughts. She then was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid illegal persecution.
On September 28, 2001, the police followed a practitioner to a Dafa materials production center. Consequently, the center was destoyed and all the Dafa practitioners present were arrested. The police also monitored the site for a few days and arrested a few more Dafa disciples. Altogether, nine practitioners were arrested, including Lan Qizhi, Liu Yunling(female), Wang Yunman(female), Zhang Shijun, Zhao Lishan, Yang Xiaojie, Zhang Lingjiang, Shi Yan, Niu Mingang. Lan Qizhi again was sent to the brainwashing center in the 4th Designing Institute of the Nuclear Industry Ministry.
For two weeks in the brainwashing center, she was accompnied by an individual assigned by her employer, and her hands were cuffed to the bed every night while she slept. She was secretly transferred to the Zhengding County Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City in mid-October 2001. So far, she had already been imprisoned for one year and eight months. Her family could not get any information about her while she was in the brainwashing center, and no family members were allowed to visit her in the detention center.
On May 18, 2003, her family got information that Lan Qizhi was secretly sentenced in prison and would be sent to the Shijiazhuang Jail of Hebei Province. Lan's family requested to see her, but the request was denied, citing the risk of SARS as the excuse. Lan appealed after the first trial and her appeal was turned down. No family members were notified during the entire process. After asking around, they finally learned that Lan was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Except for Liu Yunling, who is illegally imprisoned in the 2nd Shijiazhuang Jail, the whereabouts of the seven other Dafa practitioners who had been arrested at the same time are unknown. Dafa disciple Wang Yunman was illegally sentenced to imprisonment even though she was in critical condition because she had been on a hunger strike for nine months to protest the illegal persecution in the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. The prison guards relocated her secretly. Now, no one knows where she is or if she is still alive.
On the morning of May 19th, 2003, Lan Qizhi was transferred to the Shijiazhuang Prison. Her family members went to visit her on May 21st. The guards turned them away, citing SARS again.
After the arrest of Lan Qizhi on September 28, 2001, authorities from the Shijiazhuang Police Department confiscated all her personal belongings, including her saving's certificate worth thousands of Yuan, all her clothing, furniture and appliances, which include TVs, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a palm pilot and more. Family members requested the return of her personal belongings, but were denied. According to reliable sources, Lan Qizhi's personal belonging's will be in permanent use by the Shijiazhuang Police Department's Political Security Division.
