[Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Personnel from the "610 Office" and Police Department Offer Rewards for Reporting Falun Gong Practitioners
During the SARS outbreak period, personnel from Hengshui City's "610 Office"* and the police department offered rewards for reporting Falun Gong practitioners who clarify the facts. Dafa practitioners, including Ms. Chen Shuxiang from Wuyi County Hospital, have been arrested and are detained at a county detention center. Six practitioners from Qiaotun Village in Shen County, and two practitioners from Raoyang County have also been arrested.

At present, in order to discover the location of Falun Gong materials production sites that have Internet access, lawless personnel are monitoring Dafa practitioners who have a higher education or computer knowledge. They have also established a detailed record-taking system. As they failed to find out information from arrested Dafa practitioners, they investigated the cells where those practitioners had stayed during detention and forced labor, and also the practitioners they had contact with. They arrest at will practitioners who have been released and interrogate them, attempting to obtain leads.

On June 19, 2003, personnel from Wuchang District's "610 Office" forcibly took Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Jiagang from China's No. 3 Construction Bureau of the Wuhan Decoration Company to a brainwashing center. At present, Zhang Jiagang is staging a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution.
[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Dafa Practitioner Ling Xiang is Still Detained in Shanghai
Practitioner Mr. Ling Xiang from Guangzhou City went to Shanghai on a business trip. On the evening of July 5, 2003, he took a taxi to return to the hotel with his business partner, a non-practitioner. During the ride he clarified the truth of Falun Gong to the taxi driver and gave him a copy of truth-clarifying literature, but this driver reported him to the Jing'ansi Police Department. When Ling Xiang and his partner went out to have dinner, police searched their luggage and discovered a dozen Dafa truth-clarifying CDs and literature that Ling Xiang had prepared, and thus arrested them. The police have released Ling Xiang's partner, but Ling Xiang is still detained and is being interrogated. This has lasted for over 24 hours. Police are trying to find out the source of the Dafa materials.

[Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Torture of Practitioner Cui Yanqiu
Practitioner Ms. Cui Yanqiu was sentenced to one year of forced labor for stepping forward to validate Dafa. Because of her determination in Dafa, her detention term was extended by eight months, but after the extension period expired she still was not released, as she did not give up her belief. Beginning on May 7, 2003, policemen systematically tortured her and other determined practitioners by separating them. They are in solitary confinement. Ten policemen take turns torturing them, and forbid them to sleep. Cui Yanqiu has staged a hunger strike. Due to the torture, she is already in poor health.
[Langfang City, Hebei Province] Brainwashing Class Reopened To Persecute Practitioners
Langfang City "610 Office" personnel, in collusion with the Pipe Bureau, reopened a brainwashing center to persecute practitioners. Now they are searching for and arresting practitioners everywhere.
[Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Illegal Arrest of Practitioners Xue Lei and Guo Shujie
On June 26, 2003, in collusion with leaders from the Linghe Station from the National Tax Bureau in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, officials from the "610 Office" illegally arrested two practitioners while they were at work. They are Ms. Xue Lei from the accounting department and Ms. Guo Shujie from the inspection department. The arresting officials did not use any legal process when they detained Xue and Guo. These practitioners are now being held at Jinzhou City's No. 2 Detention Center. They were force-fed after they went on hunger strikes.
