Because they distributed materials clarifying the facts about Falun Gong, Miu Cui and Zhang Lihong were illegally detained at the Xiangyin Detention Center in Yueyang City. They have been on a hunger strike for at least 14 days, and have suffered such severe torture that their lives are in danger.

Ms. Yi Meifang, 52, is a practitioner from Hui County. Policemen from Hui County searched her house on the morning of April 23, 2003. They found truth-clarifying materials, and arrested her. Yi Meifang has been on a hunger strike. The police illegally sentenced her to four years in prison. They plan to send her to the No. 5 Jail (for females) on July 5.

Zhang Jie is an employee at the Dalian Development District Export Products Test Bureau. He was abducted and taken to the Heishijiao Brainwashing Center in the Shahekou area of Dalian City (which is on the sixth floor of the Seaside Hotel), where he is being tortured for his beliefs. Zhang has been taken to the detention center and to brainwashing centers (Dalian Brainwashing Center and Masanjia Brainwashing Center) for torture multiple times. As a result, his mental and physical condition is very serious.

Zhu Yuju is an employee of the China Railway Science Institute. In October 2002, she visited an old Dafa practitioner who had been forced to leave her home. The police from the Xicheng Police Department arrested Zhu. They transferred her to the Beijing Police Department Section Seven. Since then, there has been no news of her, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

From now until July 20, the evil is monitoring all practitioners who have ever participated in group exercises. On June 20 at 1:30 a.m., the police arrested two Dafa practitioners who they had been monitoring, when they saw them distributing truth-clarifying materials. On June 25, the police sent a practitioner, Ms. Zhang, 40, to a brainwashing center.

On July 2, the police illegally arrested Ms. Wang Guifen. She had clarified the truth face to face to a policeman, and gave him truth-clarifying materials. He then reported her.

1) Dafa practitioner Guan Sulan from Xinmin Village, Xinmin Township, Taihe District in Jinzhou City was posting flyers on May 13, when the police from the West Suburban Police Department arrested her, and sent her to the Jinzhou No. 1 Detention Center. She was released 20 days later, after being fined 20,000 Yuan.*

2) Several policemen from the Xiaolingzi branch office of the Taihe District police department arrested Dafa practitioner Xie Guirong from Liujia Village in Taihe District, Jinzhou City. The police then forcibly ransacked his house, and took away exercise tapes and pictures of Falun Gong Teacher, Mr. Li Hongzhi. Half a month later, Xie Guirong was released from the No. 1 Detention Center after paying a fine of 8,000 Yuan.

3) Dafa practitioner Zhang Yucheng is from Shilitai Village of Taihe District. In the middle of June 2003, many policemen went to his home to arrest him, but he wasn't there. Because he knows they are looking for him, he wanders about homeless so that they will not find him.

4) Dafa practitioner Cao Zhongyang is from the Taihe District. Police from the Xiaolingzi Police Office arrested him on the morning of June 13. The police then ransacked his house, and illegally confiscated Teacher's lecture tapes. The police are detaining Cao at the Jinzhou No. 1 Detention Center.

The "610 Office"* arrested Dafa practitioner Guo Wanglan from home in Xiantao City at 5 p.m. on May 27, and sent her to a brainwashing center (address unknown).

* "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

Each resident committee of Wuhan City has been visiting each Falun Gong practitioner's home and requiring practitioners to give their fingerprints, and to sign a "Guarantee Letter."* If they refuse, they are sent to brainwashing centers. Some practitioners have left home, while others have used this opportunity to clarify the truth to these persons.

* A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.

Everyone recognizes that Dafa practitioner Hu Shuzhen is a nice person. People reported her for distributing truth-clarifying materials near Double D Harbor at 11 a.m. on July 3. The police took her to the Wanli Police Office in the Dalian Development Area. At 3 p.m. the police ransacked her house and took away her child's computer, a set of lecture tapes, and some books about Dafa. An eighty-year-old relative, and a child in high school were left at home. Without her, the household is in disarray. Her family members long for her to come home. Her husband does not know how to handle this situation. Her child is so upset that he cannot calm down enough to study.

Two practitioners, Wang Junfeng and his wife, were tortured, succumbed to brainwashing, and have been released. As a result of the severity of their treatment, they now help the police to do bad things. Six material sites have been damaged after police monitored the sites. On May 28, 2003, the Shenyang "610 Office" and Shenyang politicians issued a notice called "About Collecting Thesis of Admiring Science and Opposing XX" to every institute, association, research facility, university, and enterprise science association, requiring people to hold an "academic discussion session" in September 2003, in order to slander Falun Dafa.
