Radio Free Asia reports from Brussels on August 20:
Six Falun Gong practitioners submitted a lawsuit to the Belgian federal prosecutors against Jiang Zemin, China's former leader and Chair of the Central Military Committee of the People's Republic of China, for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and for committing torture, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Meanwhile, about 30 Falun Gong practitioners were sitting quietly and practicing exercises outside the court building, holding aloft banners to demand a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin.
According to an AFP report, Belgium's Parliament passed a new bill on August 5. The bill authorizes the Belgian courts to judge serious violations of international human rights law related to Belgium, regardless of the defendant's nationality and the location of the crime. Based on the report, the plaintiffs include Belgian Falun Gong practitioners who were expelled out of China, as well as others from America, Iceland, and Australia.
