(Clearwisdom.net, August 9, 2003) Falun Dafa Information Center (Chinese version), August 6 - On August 4, 2003, in Conference Room XVIII of the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the U.N. Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights was holding its 55th session, the theme of which was: "Women and Human Rights." During this session, a Falun Gong practitioner delivered a special topic speech regarding the Jiang regime's ruthless persecution of female Falun Gong practitioners.
Because it was the last speech, some attendees were already about to leave, but when the Falun Gong practitioner started relating the facts about how the Jiang regime brutally persecutes female Falun Gong practitioners, the atmosphere in the conference room suddenly became dignified and quiet. Representatives listened to the speech with their full attention until the end. The fact that female Falun Gong practitioners have been bearing tremendous hardships in order to persist in their belief deeply moved most representatives' hearts. After the speech, many representatives came up to the practitioner's seat and expressed their admiration and greetings for her speech. They also expressed their support for Falun Gong practitioners' four-year peaceful and rational actions. The several dozen copies of the English version of the speech that the practitioner brought with her, including her own copy, were instantly taken by the attendees. One representative waited there for a long time and wanted to obtain a copy of the English version, but was very disappointed over not being able to get one. In the end, he took a copy of the French version.
The 55th Session Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights will convene for 3 weeks and conclude on August 15. This was the second speech given by Falun Gong practitioners in this sub-commission session. On July 28, a representative of Falun Gong practitioners delivered a speech regarding the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin in the judicatory special topic group.
