(Clearwisdom.net, September 2, 2003) After Falun Gong practitioners in Belgium filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, Falun Gong practitioners in Germany prepared to use German law to file their own lawsuit against the Chinese dictator. Legal scholar from Germany Zheng Zhi-Hong said that recent developments in International Law make crimes against humanity and genocide intolerable in today's civilized world. The following is a report by Radio Free Asia reporter Tian Yi:
The lawsuit filed by six Falun Gong practitioners against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, Li Lanqing and Lou Gan in Belgium last week has led to a strong response from the European society. Legal scholar Zheng Zhi-Hong from Zejiang University, who now lives in Germany, regards this as a change that will have far-reaching influence on the development of legal history since 1989.
Ms. Zheng Zhi-Hong said, "The change and development in this area in the past year has been rapid. In respect of the development in Europe and Germany, this law has laid the legal foundation for Falun Gong practitioners to file a lawsuit against Chinese leaders, including Jiang Zemin, in Germany. Falun Gong practitioners' lawsuit against Jiang Zemin has great historical significance."
Ms. Zheng Zhi-Hong went on to say, "This lawsuit is unprecedented. Trials in the past, such as the Nuremburg trial, took place after the persecution failed and ended. This lawsuit is taking place at a time when the persecution is still under way. Therefore, this kind of lawsuit not only exposes the perpetrator's crimes whilst they are happening and alarms those still engaged in the persecution, but also exposes the perpetrators' lies and wakes up all good people to help stop the persecution." In her opinion, recent developments in International Law will make crimes against humanity and genocide difficult for the perpetrators.
