(Clearwisdom.net) Six Falun Gong practitioners, a spiritual meditation movement from China, have filed a lawsuit against the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin in our country. This is the first criminal lawsuit for genocide that has been filed under the New Belgian Law, which had been amended before the Parliament broke up. The plaintiffs claim that the Chinese government, under orders from Jiang Zemin, has systematically persecuted Falun Gong since 1999.
Host: The first criminal lawsuit for genocide was filed right after the new amended law was brought into effect. This morning in Brussels, six Falun Gong practitioners submitted the lawsuit, and at the same time over ten Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises outside the Supreme Court.
Yang Li Ke: Falun Gong follows the basic principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." One can become a good person through cultivation. In fact, it is a lifestyle. Just as you see, we are just practising a method for cultivation, which includes purifying one's body through practising meditation.
Host: It is been said that the Chinese government systematically and brutally persecuted Falun Gong practitioners since 1999, as well as even killing them, as a result of Jiang's order. The defendants in the lawsuit are Jiang and two other Chinese leaders. The new amended law for genocide is stricter than before. In accordance with the new law's regulations, the lawsuit has been submitted by Belgian victims. One is a lady who has lived in Belgium for many years, but has had her China passport confiscated. The other is a Belgian citizen, who appealed for Falun Gong in Beijing.
Matthias: At that time I was arrested and deported from China.
Host: Is this evidence enough to prove that genocide has been committed?
Matthias: My situation was not the worst. In fact, the persecution I suffered is just a small part of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners worldwide that was launched by Jiang Zemin.
Yu Hong: The Chinese government is based on communist ideology. They are afraid of anything that might influence people's thinking. They are even more fearful that these things may earn citizens some type of reputation.
Host: The International Criminal Court in Hague has not been recognised by China yet. This is another reason why Falun Gong practitioners hope that Federal prosecutors can judge, based on crimes against humanity, Jiang's crimes as well as those of his accomplices.
