(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Ping was a 31-year-old employee of the Anda City Textile Factory in Heilongjiang Province.
Because she practiced Falun Dafa, on October 25, 1999, Ms. Li was arrested at work by policemen led by Liu Zibo, from the Tiaxi Police Station. She was detained at Anda Detention Center for 11 months. During the long-term detention, this once healthy young woman suffered tremendously both mentally and physically.
It was very cold in the winter in northern China. The conditions in the detention center were even worse than outside. Ms. Li was locked in a room and not allowed to move around. During the day, she was forced to sit on a hard bed plank. If she made any movement, she would be beaten. At night, the bed plank was covered with a thick layer of frost. Ms. Li was only allowed to have one layer of bed coverings. Oftentimes the bed covering was frozen and stuck to the bed plank. The only food she was given was some corn-starch buns and vegetable soup. Ms. Li was also subjected to non-stop mental torture. For instance, the police attempted to force her to write statements denouncing Falun Dafa. Under such brutal conditions, Ms. Li became extremely weak. By the time she was sent to the hospital, she was on the brink of death. Even so, the police still tried to force Ms. Li to write "guarantees" to stop practicing but she firmly rejected their demands. During her detention, Ms. Li never yielded.
In September 2000, Ms. Li's family came and brought her home from the detention center. Just a few months after Ms. Li returned home, she passed away.
