(Clearwisdom.net) On October 25, 2000, Yushugou police in the Longtan District of Jilin City arrested me and illegally detained me for forty days at the Number Three Detention Center in Jilin City. Then they sentenced me to two years of imprisonment in forced labor camps. First, they held me in a forced labor camp in Jilin City. I was later transferred to a forced labor camp in Liaoyuan City, then to Changchun City Fenjin Forced Labor Camp, and Changchun City Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. Until this day, I can still vividly remember how the police and guards brutally tortured Falun Dafa practitioners and how the practitioners peacefully and determinedly safeguarded Dafa. Here I would like to share a few typical examples.
Brutal "One-On-One" Torture
Around 3 P.M. of October 24, 2000, four or five policemen broke into my home and six other fellow practitioners' homes. Without giving any reason, they took us to the local police station. They immediately started the interrogation. The interrogation went on until the next day. They used all kinds of means to torture us in order to get the information they wanted.
Li Shumei is fifty-three years old. She was a teacher in a primary school. She used to be the assistant at the Longdong Community's Falun Dafa practice site. The police handcuffed her to a tiger bench in the basement for a whole day and night, not allowing her to drink water or go to the bathroom.
Zhang Shousheng was forty-eight years old. He was a worker. On the night of November 26, the head of the local police station interrogated him. The head officer's first sentence was, "The gangsters have a saying, 'we should deal with other people on a one-on-one basis so there won't be a witness when we kill them.' Tonight, I'll do such a one-on-one with you. If you don't tell us all that you know, you'll die and nobody will know."
Mr. Zhang said, "I've already told you what I know. Are you trying to force me to lie or tell you untrue stories?" The head officer grabbed his hair and hit his head against the wall. He fainted and dropped down to the floor. The vicious head officer kicked him with his heavy boots. He kicked Mr. Zhang all over his body, but avoided his face so it would not be easy for other people to tell that he had been beaten up. The head officer got tired from the beating. After taking a break, he asked Zhang Shousheng whether he would give him all the information. Mr. Zhang didn't fully come around, but he still shook his head. The head officer opened the windows and the door. A chilly wind blew in. He then stripped off Zhang Shousheng's clothes and poured water onto him. He lay on the cold concrete floor, in a curled-up position. Jilin City is in the northern part of China. The temperature was about -10 0C at night around the end of November. The head officer went back to sleep after pouring water onto Mr. Zhang. He didn't remember Mr. Zhang was still naked and lying on the floor until 5 A.M. the next morning.
He sent Zhang Shousheng back to his cell around 6 A.M. We couldn't even recognize him. He opened his mouth but couldn't say a word. His face was blue. He was stiff like a robot. However, he wasn't frozen to death. He didn't even catch a cold or get a fever. It was a miracle.
According to the law, police stations can only detain people for up to forty-eight hours. However, they interrogated and tortured us for three nights and two days. Later, they felt they couldn't delay anymore. They casually prepared some documents and sent us to different detention centers.
Wang Lixin's death
The Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center was located at the bottom of a hill in a suburb. About ten days after they took me there, the guard pushed a handcuffed person into my cell. He was also a Falun Dafa practitioner. He had big eyes and a square face. He was about five feet nine inches tall. He looked strong. He refused to drink or eat anything since he had been detained. During interrogations, he would say, "I don't know" to any questions. The head of the cell said, "Aren't you not cooperating with me if you don't eat anything?" Wang Lixin smiled and said, "We practice Falun Gong to be good people. However I got arrested. I can't understand why they arrest good people. I feel very wronged and don't have any appetite. It has nothing to do with you." We all admired his kind expressions and words. A fellow practitioner was assigned to help him wash his face. He asked Wang whether he needed any help. Wang said, "Teacher is with me. The Fa is with me. I don't need anything."
On the fourth day of force-feeding, Wang Lixin was transferred to Class Six. Somebody heard the guard tell the class head, "Don't be so incapable like the head of Class Five. Simply beat him if he still refuses to eat. Beat him hard like you want to kill him. Don't worry. I'll take responsibility if anything goes wrong." That day, Lixin continued on his hunger strike. The class head and two other criminals started to beat him. Lixin dropped to the floor and rolled over, holding his head. On the morning of the fifth day, he again was taken out for force-feeding. Two criminals helped him walk. When they passed Class Five, we saw that his eyes had become swollen so that we couldn't see his eyeballs. One of his legs couldn't move at all. He wasn't able to walk without help. He groaned. His voice sounded hoarse and he couldn't speak clearly. During that night, we heard Wang Lixin's coughing. He groaned weakly when he wasn't coughing. The sound got weaker and weaker. When it was dawn, we couldn't hear him any more. Instead, we heard people running around in the aisle. A young Falun Dafa practitioner was tortured to death just like that.
Later we learned that Wang Lixin was thirty-two years old. He was still single. He lost his job because the financial condition of the factory that he worked in had deteriorated and not so many workers were needed. The factory gave him thirty-six thousand yuan as compensation. (Editor's note: When the work units change their employment systems or lay off employees when their financial condition worsens, the work units compensate workers in a one time deal on the condition that the workers will leave their work units and they will take no responsibility for the workers anymore.) Wang Lixin bought a computer in order to be able to download Teacher's articles and fellow practitioners' articles. The police abducted him when he was distributing truth-clarification materials on the street. After Lixin died, Jilin City Legislative Department tried to cover the facts by transferring the head of the Detention Center and the guard to other places. They also made some arrangements for the head of Class Six and the two criminals who beat Wang Lixin to death.
