(Clearwisdom.net, February 23, 2004) On the afternoon of February 20, about 50 Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful appeal outside the Hong Kong customshouse. They delivered a petition letter regarding the ban on the entry of Canadian Falun Gong practitioner, Zenon Dolnyckyj. They urged the Hong Kong authorities not to follow Jiang Zemin's regime to persecute good people.
Falun Gong practitioners pointed out in their open letter to the director of the Entry Department, the purpose of Zenon writing and promoting his book "Coming for you" was to encourage people to stand by what is good and to expose the facts of Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong. Unfortunately, under the pressure and threats from Jiang's regime and against their own conscience, some people in the Hong Kong government barred Zenon from entering Hong Kong. Before Zenon set off for Hong Kong, he was well received by local governments, people and media in Taiwan where traditional virtues are esteemed. Only those corrupt political regimes and those who are coerced and controlled by these regimes dare to openly suppress and attack good people.
The open letter told the director of the Entry Department that Jiang Zemin and his main followers are being sued in different countries for genocide, torture and crimes against humanity that they have committed in the persecution of Falun Gong. They will be eventually brought to justice.
Shortly after, Falun Gong practitioners delivered the open letter and Zenon's book "Coming for you" to an official at the Entry Department and asked him to give the materials to the director. Practitioners hoped that the director would understand from the book the benefits that Falun Gong has brought to individuals and the society as well as the harm the persecution has brought to the public. Practitioners wished that in choosing between good and evil, the director would make the right decision which will bring goodness to both Hong Kong government and its people.
According to media reports, Hong Kong government's ban on Falun Gong practitioner's entry was criticized by council members of the legislation committee. Council member, Mr. Tu Jinshen expressed that censoring tourists according to their beliefs damaged the image of Hong Kong as an international metropolitan city.
