Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

Led by Associate Police Chief Song Ruisheng of the Wenquan District Police Department, the Political Security Section and affiliated local police stations have continually persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in various ways. As a result, some of the policemen have received karmic retribution.

While on their way to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in March 2001, Political Commissar Liu Guoqing, Associate Police Chief Song Ruisheng and Political Security Section Chief Du Zhiqiang were all hospitalized for injuries they received in a traffic accident.

On April 25, 2000, Vice Political Commissar Kuang Zhengguo severely tortured Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tao Xizheng in Shuanghe Detention Center. He repeatedly whipped Ms. Tao's chest with handcuffs and slammed her head against a wall while holding her by the hair. When Kuang tackled her to the ground, her head hit the floor hard. As Kuang was about to abuse another practitioner, Ms. Tao pleaded with him to treat Falun Gong practitioners well so that he would not suffer immediate retribution. Upon hearing this, Kuang stopped. That very night, he suffered such a severe sudden headache that it rendered him unconscious. His family had to send him to the hospital for emergency medical treatment. Since then, he has stopped mistreating Falun Gong practitioners.

Zhang Pei, a policeman from the Bridge One Police Station, routinely arrested Falun Gong practitioners and searched their homes. In November 2002, while he was on a business trip out of town, Zhang's car ran into the back of a logging truck that was parked at the side of the road. One of the long poles extending from the back of the truck impaled Zhang's chest, and he had to have a portion of his lung surgically removed in the hospital. The doctors later remarked that they could see his heart through the gaping hole in his chest. After spending over two hundred thousand yuan (1) for medical treatment, he was reassigned to another post.
