Facts of the Persecution

Ms. Xu Yurong is 42 years old, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Hedong District, Tianjin City. She was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp because she maintained her faith in Falun Dafa. She was sent to Tianjin City Banqiao Labor Camp. There, she was beaten, cursed, and forced to stand for fifteen days, deprived of the right to sleep. Her ankle was fractured and displaced.

Ms. Liang Zhuan was a resident of Xiantao City, Hubei Province. She was abducted to a Wuhan brainwashing class on December 17, 2003. No one knows her condition. Another Xiantao City resident, Ms. Tong Dongxiang, went to Beijing three times to appeal and was detained six times. She was sent to a labor camp in 2001 for a year. On July 17, 2003, she was abducted again, and sent to the Shayang Labor Camp in Hubei Province. She went on a hunger strike until November 15. Her current condition is unknown.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Zhenzhong was detained on July 28, 1999 by the Taocheng district police. He was dismissed from his job, expelled from the Party, and sentenced to four years prison after being arrested. He was locked in Hebei Provincial No.4 Prison in July 2000. After four years of torture in the jail, his physical condition deteriorated dramatically. His heart, lungs, intestines, and stomach were all damaged.

Mr. Zhang Zhaohua is a manager employed by Harbin Railroad Bureau. After being arrested on February 19, 2001 for the second time, he was detained for two months, and then sentenced to two years in a labor camp. He was beaten up in the labor camp, and later sent to Fuyu County Police Detention Center. On March 8, 2002, he was sentenced to five years in prison. In court, he exposed how he had been persecuted, and declared all the statements he made under pressure that did not conform with Dafa to be null and void. The villains were shocked, and added two years to his term. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. The court extorted 5,000 yuan from his family, later returning 1,000 yuan. He is current being held in the Beian Prison of Heilongjiang Province.

Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Xu Yanhui from Yanshan County, Hebei Province went to Beijing to appeal. The local government detained him. He escaped, but was abducted several days later. He was beaten until he rolled on the ground. Authorities twisted his arm backward and tied him up with ropes. They beat him with sticks, and kicked him with tough leather boots. Authorities also arrested his older brother, beat him up, and extorted 5,000 yuan from both Mr. Xu and his brother's family. Since then, township government officials and police have continued to harass his family, even in the middle of the night. Mr. Xu had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.

Mr. Yang Yueliang from Yanshan County, Hebei Province has been arrested, detained, and brainwashed many times just because he believes in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," and practices Falun Dafa. Police often storm his home to harass him. In April 2002, after being repeatedly harassed by police, Mr. Yang Yueling and his wife had to leave their two young children, and become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. Before the 2003 Spring Festival, police arrested Mr. Yang when he returned home to visit his elderly mother. He was tortured in the detention center. On July 2003, Mr. Yang was sentenced to ten years in prison, and is being held in Shijiashuang City No.4 Prison. As a result of the persecution, Yang's family has lost 70,000 yuan, and his family and relatives have suffered unthinkable mental damage.

From November 27 to 28, 2003, many Falun Dafa practitioners who live in Hengguang District, Changchun City, Jilin Province were arrested, including Mr. Zhang Changgui, Ms. Li Shuhua (Zhang's wife), their son Zhang Jizhong, Ms. Yu Yongjuan, Ms. Zhao Wenhua, and Ms. Chen Xiulan. Ms. Yu Yonghua and Li Shuhua were both sentenced to one-year in labor camp, and are now being held and tortured in the Heizuizi Labor Camp. Mr. Zhang Changgui and his son Zhang Jizhong were released. Ms. Zhao Wenhua and Ms. Chen Xiulan were both bailed out by their families, costing more than 10,000 yuan.

Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Zhang Peng from Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province was tortured in Wangcun Labor Camp until he suffered a nervous breakdown. But he started to cultivate Falun Dafa again after recovering at home. In the beginning of February 2004, while passing out truth clarifying materials, city police abducted him, and later ransacked his home. His 60-year-old mother, Ms. Yu Yingzhang, who was a national Model Teacher, was also abducted, and detained with her son. On February 16, 2004, police abducted Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Le Zhihua from Yicheng District, Zaozhuang City. Ms. Zhao Hongxia and four other practitioners from Tengzhou City, Shandong Province were also abducted while passing out truth clarifying materials.

Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms Li Jifeng, 50 years old, went to Beijing to clarify the truth twice after 1999. She was detained, sent to brainwashing class, and locked in Maojiashan Labor Camp in Chongqing City. She was released on medical parole after suffering a nervous breakdown, and recovered through studying the Fa and doing the exercises. She was abducted and detained in Beipei Detention Center. Her home was ransacked in May 2003. Police tried to threaten her family to force her write a "Guarantee Statement," but she did not waver in her righteous thought. No one has heard from her since October 2003. People are very worried about her.

In November 2000, more than forty Falun Dafa practitioners were tortured in the first Yanji City brainwashing class in Jilin Province. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Na and Cui Guinuu were arrested on February 9, 2004 while producing truth-clarifying materials. Wang Na escaped detention in October 2003 after going on a hunger strike for eleven days. But she was arrested along with her mother-in-law Rui Kerong and her husband Jiang Keiyu on January 23, 2004 (the second day of the New Year), while producing truth clarifying material at home. Rui Kerong and Jiang Kaiyu both escaped. There were three other male practitioners sent to Changchun on February 9, 2004.

My name is Zhang Wenju (male), and I am 24 years old, a resident of Pingdong Village, Gaoqiao Town, Kai County, Sichuan Province. I was illegally sentenced to two years labor camp, and was beaten up by police in Xishanping Labor Camp in Sichuan Province.
