A petition with 636 signatures supporting Falun Gong practitioners in China was delivered to Lindsay MP Jackie Kelly last week, according to local Falun Gong practitioner Julia Chan.
Ms Chan, of Cambridge Gardens, said around 120 signatures were also handed in to Ms Kelly's office earlier this month.
Ms Kelly was asked to table the petitions in parliament.
"On the petition we request for the House of Representatives to initiate a resolution during the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR) meeting, which convened on 15 March.
"The petition requested the UNCHR openly address the persecution of Falun Gong and help to unconditionally release all Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned for their spiritual beliefs, including those family members of Australian citizens and residents currently detained."
The petition also asked for unrestricted access into China for UN investigations into the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
