Facts of the Persecution

1) Zhang Zhongyu, a Falun Gong practitioner and the former assistant general editor of the magazine subdivision of the Jilin Province Archive Bureau, was taken away by the Public Security Bureau authorities many times in 2001. The authorities tortured him using various inhuman ways. In the most serious case, Zhang Hang, a police officer from the Second National Security Team of Changchun City Public Security Bureau, used four electric batons of different voltages to shock him. His face, neck, arms, back, chest, legs and his genitals were all burned. Black scabs covered his body even a month later. His genitals were swollen. He experienced excruciating pain while urinating. He could not walk normally even after 20 days. In September 2003, when Zhang Zhongyu went to paint over the picture of Jiang at the Changsheng BioScience Cooperation Ltd in Jilin Province, he was beaten by the security staff who did not know the truth of the persecution against Falun Gong. Zhang was then sent to the Changchun City Public Security Bureau. At the beginning he was detained at the Tiebei Detention Center. Later he was transferred to the Changchun City Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center for persecution. Now Zhang Zhongyu cannot even walk.

2) At the Beijing Female Labor Education Center, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chunhua, who was firm in her belief, was brutally tortured by the Second Team. Beginning in December 2001 they ordered drug addicts and those former practitioners who became brainwashed and renounced Falun Dafa to take turns torturing and beating her day and night. At night her screams were often heard by others. The torture continued for nearly half a year. Wu Junying, another practitioner, refused to renounce her belief in Falun Dafa. Her term was due to expire in the summer of 2002, but was extended for another 10 months.

3) My name is Li Yangmei. I am an employee at the Distribution Center of the Food Bureau in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. In December 2000 I went alone to Beijing to validate Dafa. I was illegally arrested and was detained at the Shahe Detention Center in Guangzhou City. I went on hunger strike and was then sent to the Baiyushan Mental Hospital in Guangzhou City. I was detained and persecuted together with the mental patients. During the detention my hands were beaten with an metal baton 11 times. My chest was beaten until it turned a purple color. I could not get up for several days. I was brutally tortured in many ways.

4) Falun Gong practitioner Yu Shifang from Shanggangzi Village, Shangjiahe Town, Xinbin County of Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested on the night before the National Day (October 1) in 1999. She was sent to Xinbin Detention Center and was illegally detained for 11 days. Each day, besides being forced to sit on a board as punishment, she was forced to undergo brainwashing. On December 21, 2000, Yu Shifang went to Beijing to appeal, and was arrested. After several transfers she was sent to the Wujiabao Education Center in Fushun City, Liaoning Province for 3-years of detention.

5) On April 25, 2004, policemen named, Jin Tiezhu and Li Zhimin, of the Dayangshu Forestry Public Security Bureau arrested two female Falun Gong practitioners, Liu Yan and Jin Fengxia for distributing truth clarification materials. Currently the two practitioners are being detained as criminals at the Dayangshu Forestry Detention Center in Erlunchun County, Inner Mongolia.

News and Activities Around the World

On April 29, 2004, Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners sent an express letter to Li Shaoguang, the head of the Security Department of the SAR government, concerning the three "denial of entry without cause" incidents, of a good number of overseas Falun Gong practitioners into Hong Kong to participate in legal activities. The letter appealed to the government not to be an accomplice of Jiang's political group by persecuting good and innocent people, and asked the government to truly respect human rights, freedom, and the laws of Hong Kong, to stop barring Falun Gong practitioners from entering Hong Kong, to apologize publicly, to investigate the incident where a practitioner illegally received a forced injection of an unknown drug and publish the results of the investigation, and to adopt immediate measures to make up for the loss to the activities, and take positive steps to interview and report on these crimes.

Vicious People and Vicious Deeds

1) On February 27, 2004, 50-year old Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Fengyun was persecuted to death at the Wanjia Labor Education Center, but the corrupt police continued their evil deeds unabated. They gathered together the elderly in their 60s and 70s, and those who lost their ability to work due to the persecution, to the third floor of the building. Zhao Yuqing, the police officer from the training team, took the practitioners who did not cooperate into a room. The police then started hanging them up, shocking them with electric batons, and beating and kicking them.

2) Li Mingshan, the new assistant leader at the Dayangshu Town Government of Elunchun County, Inner Mongolia, consciously participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioner Lei Xiuhua was twice illegally sent for labor education. In March 2004, during the People's Congress and the Party Congress, local officials found out that Lei Xiuhua was not in town. Li Mingshan immediately sent Wei Jianfu, the police officer at Qiaodong Police Station to Arong County to find her. When they saw that Lei Xiuhua had truth clarification flyers, the police viciously beat and kicked her. Her face was swollen, and was black and blue.
