(Clearwisdom.net, May 7, 2004) Falun Gong practitioners from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France peacefully appealed in the capital city of Brussels as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Belgium on May 5, 2004. Practitioners called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong and demanded that Chinese authorities bring the chief perpetrator of the persecution, Jiang Zemin, to justice.
The practitioners unfurled banners that read, "We Welcome Wen Jiabao's Visit," "Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice," and "Bring Bo Xilai to Justice." The Associated Press (AP), The Epoch Times, and many Belgian media organizations interviewed practitioners and reported on the appeal activities.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Brussels on May 5 to begin a 2-day formal visit to Belgium and the headquarters of the European Union. On May 6, dozens of people, including Falun Gong practitioners, unfurled banners outside the hotel in which Wen was meeting European Union officials.
Below are the main points of an open letter to Premier Wen Jiabao and Belgium's Prime Minister as well as the Belgian and Chinese people:
- We welcome Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Belgium
- We welcome the friendship between Belgium and the Chinese people
- We hope Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt takes this opportunity to clearly express the Belgian government and people's deep concerns over the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
- We hope Premier Wen will give top priority to ending the persecution of Falun Gong and bring the perpetrators to justice.
