A Disabled Woman Who Regained Her Health Practicing Falun Dafa Is Now Being Brutally Persecuted

(Clearwisdom.net) In 1998, Ms. Li Xin, an employee of the Qinhuangdao City, Railway Vehicular Department in Hebei Province was in a car accident that left her severely debilitated. She suffered injury to her trachea and cervical vertebrae. She could only speak in a weak voice that made it difficult for her to talk with others, as they could not hear her. As a result of the accident, she was in and out of several hospitals within a period of six months; these hospitals included the Beidaihe No. 281 Hospital, Beijing No. 301 Hospital, Tang Shan Orthopedics Hospital, and Tang Shan Coal Hospital. During this time, Ms. Li spent more than ten thousand yuan (1) on medical fees.

Due to her difficult financial situation, Li Xin could not afford to undergo surgery in January of 1999, but instead went to the Qinhuangdao City Chinese Medical Hospital for treatments. She received acupuncture for 30 minutes every day to slow down the atrophy of her muscles and to get relief from the painful muscle cramps. A doctor at the hospital said that the acupuncture treatments could not cure her completely, but could only help maintain her condition so it would not worsen. Li Xin was only 30 years old, her complexion was sallow, and she had to wear a neck brace because her neck was not strong enough to hold her head in an upright position. She needed the assistance of others because she could not walk or stand up by herself. Li Xin's husband had to take care of her all day and was unable to go to work. Their child was sent to stay with the grandmother. Li Xin and her husband had spent all of their money, and their relatives were not willing to lend them the money for her medical treatments. Life was very difficult for her and her family, and Li Xin even thought of suicide several times.

In April 1999, she went home from the hospital to recuperate and saw people practicing the Falun Gong exercises. Before she left the hospital, a relative of another patient at the hospital told her and her husband that Falun Gong could benefit her health and gave Li Xin the book Zhuan Falun (2). Li Xin and her husband heard that Zhuan Falun was a very precious book and kept it in good condition. At that time Li Xin had not thought of reading the book, but as she saw that the Falun Gong practice site was on the ground floor of her apartment building, she wanted to go. Ms. Li was taught the five sets of exercises, but due to her physical condition, she could not complete all of them at one time.

In May 1999, the Qinhuangdao City Public Security Hospital gave Li Xin an assessment of her condition. From the car accident, Li Xin experienced a cervical vertebra fracture, a spinal cord injury, vocal cord paresis, and withering of the muscles. She lost the ability to work and to care for herself. As a result, Ms. Li was assessed a fourth degree disability designation.

In June 1999, a practitioner who lived in the same building as Li Xin told her that as a Falun Gong practitioner she should know the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," and urged her to read Zhuan Falun and then practice the exercises. After reading the book, Li Xin understood that to be a good person with a healthy body and mind, she should base all of her thoughts and actions on the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," she should consider others first and maintain high moral standards. She thought to herself, "This practice is so good, I must continue practicing it." One afternoon after lunch, ten days after she started practicing the exercises, she leaned against the bed and sighed with sadness because she was not able to do all the exercises. All of a sudden she felt someone massage the back of her neck. She was a little surprised and moved her neck; surprisingly she could move her neck, and both her palms felt warm and her whole body felt energetic. After that day, Ms. Li could take care herself. Also, she did not need to get acupuncture treatments anymore. A month later, she was able to do some housework. She knew it was Teacher's compassion that helped adjust her body. Falun Gong continuously helped Ms. Li recover her health, gave her courage to continue living, and brought happiness back to her family.

In July 1999, Jiang made up lies to deceive the people and through his own initiative, started the vicious persecution of Falun Gong. Li Xin knew very well that Falun Dafa is good! It had taught her how to be a good person. Although she had only practiced Dafa for a month, she was very steadfast on her path of cultivation, despite the persecution.

In June 2001, Li Xin went back to work at her previous employment as she wanted to serve her country and her community with her good health and spirit. In order to save people from Jiang's poisonous slander, she told the truth of Falun Gong to her supervisor and colleagues. In October 2001, because of her steadfast belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," the supervisor of the Qinhuangdao Railway Vehicular Department transferred her from the Beidaihe Station (a busy station where many government officials come during their vacation) to the remote Funing Train Station. In May 2002, because she continued to clarify the truth of Falun Gong to people, her work unit ordered her mother and husband to watch her, took away her Dafa books, and pressured her to write a letter of repentance (3). Out of fear, her mother and husband wrote up the letter for Li Xin without her approval or knowledge. In September 2002, Ms. Li requested that her supervisor return all of her Falun Dafa books. But instead of returning her books, her work unit abducted her and reported her to the Qinhuangdao "610 Office"(4) and the Funing Police Station, who forcibly sent her to the Changli County Brainwashing Center.

The brainwashing center uses all kinds of methods to force practitioners to denounce their belief. They would use loudspeakers to broadcast deceitful news to slander Falun Dafa as a sham Qigong practice, they tried tactics such as displaying false compassion to practitioners, and they subjected them to sleep deprivation. They would also put a practitioner in a room alone, and install a monitor to observe the practitioner's expression and condition in order to find the best time to try to "transform" them. Other methods adopted by the center included forcing practitioners to stand for a long period of time and not letting them see anyone or receive any visits. The center claimed that no one was allowed to sleep or go home until they gave up their practice of Falun Gong.

Li Xin went on a hunger strike to deny the persecution and demanded a meeting with the top leaders of the Qinghuangdao Railway Vehicular Section. The brainwashing center enjoyed inflicting pain on her with their cruel force-feeding. They also lied to her by saying, "If you eat the rice, the leaders will meet with you." For a whole year she did not meet with anyone from her workplace.

Li Xin and another practitioner, Li Lan, told the personnel at the brainwashing center the truth of Falun Gong and that they should not persecute practitioners. With the excuse that Li Xin and Li Lan were disturbing their work, the center transferred both practitioners to the Changli City Detention Center for 15 days before returning them to the brainwashing center. Li Xin was illegally detained in the Changli Brainwashing Center for a year.

During the unlawful detention, the Qinhuangdao Railway Vehicular Section chiefs paid Li Xin's husband based on the personal leave rate. Li Xin's husband was able to endure her car accident, but he could not withstand Jiang's cruel economic, spiritual and physical persecution, and so he divorced her.

It is only because practitioners are steadfast in their belief of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" that they lose their freedom and are detained in prisons, labor camps, and brainwashing centers without reason. This cruel persecution has torn apart many families and has brought them nothing but grief.

(2) The book, Zhuan Falun, comprises the principal teachings of Falun Dafa.

(3)Letter of Repentance: The practitioner is forced to admit remorse for practicing Falun Gong, promise to give up Falun Gong, and never again associate with other practitioners or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

(4) "610 Office": A bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.
