On July 22, an article published in the National Review magazine (1) detailed the former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin and his gang's continuous efforts over the past five years in persecuting Falun Gong in and out of China. Recently, a case involving Jiang's gang hiring a gunman to shoot at Falun Gong practitioners visiting South Africa shocked the world. The article explains that dictators require absolute obedience from the people. It IIIIIIIIt is no coincidence that Jiang Zemin has slandered Falun Dafa while promoting himself in these past several years. The suppression of Falun Gong in China today reminds us that dictators, by overtly restricting the freedoms of some, are subtly depriving the freedoms of all.

Facts of the Persecution

My name is Zhan Shuying, female, and I am a fifty-nine-year-old retired cadre from the Wendeng City Agricultural Machines Factory in Shandong Province. As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I accuse Jiang's gang of violating written laws and committing the following crimes: 1. Intentionally causing injuries. 2. Illegally detaining the innocent and forcing them into confessions through the use of torture. 3. Falsely accusing and slandering the innocent. 4. Kidnapping. 5. Illegally invading private residencies and searching private properties. 6. Libel. 7. Illegally depriving citizens of their freedom of belief. 9. Infringing upon correspondence freedoms and secretly opening, hiding and destroying personal mail. 10. Grossly abusing their authority. I strongly urge the People's Procuratorate to undertake the legal responsibility of investigating the crimes of Jiang Zemin and his followers.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Jitang of Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and his family members have experienced severe persecution in the past few years. Mr. Yang and his son Mr. Yang Bo were abducted many times, and they were taken twice to a brainwashing center. Mr. Yang Jitang lost his job when he remained firm in practicing Falun Gong, and each time Mr. Yang Bo found new employment, the authorities would press and threaten the employers interested in hiring him, resulting in Mr. Yang Bo's continual unemployment. Mr. Yang Jitang's eldest son is also a practitioner, and on June 22, 2004, he was arrested by the police when he hung banners reading "Falun Dafa is good" on the streets. The police also arrested Mr. Yang Jitang without reason.

On July 22, 2004, police from the Pingmei Co. Xilutian Mine Police Station of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region broke into Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Yi's home and abducted Mr. Li Yi, who is sixty-two years old. On the next day, the police returned to Mr. Li's home to abduct his wife, taking her to Gushan Brainwashing Center in Pingzhuang for persecution. In early July of 2004, a person poisoned by the government's slanderous propaganda against Falun Gong turned in practitioners Ms. Chai Guiying (age 50), Mrs. Bao (about fifty years old), Ms. Fu Xiurong (about thirty-five years old) and others from the Pingju Fengshuigou Coal Mine in Chifeng City while they were distributing Dafa materials. The police abducted Ms. Chai Guiying and Mrs. Bao, and now they are held at the Pingzhuang Detention Center, Yuanbao Mountain District. Ms. Fu Xiurong and the others walked away with their righteous thoughts, but in order to avoid further persecution, they had to leave their homes and go from place to place.
