(Clearwisdom.net) In the past two weeks, after the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda machine again re-hashed the 2001 "Tiananmen Square Self-immolation" hoax, people in Europe and the U.S. have received recorded phone calls in Chinese and English, using none other than the self-immolation incident in a renewed attempt to defame Falun Gong.
Within a three-hour period this morning, a Falun Gong practitioner in the U.S. received ten harassing phone calls. He immediately reported this to the police. It was learned that many other people also received similar phone calls.
After a period of relative respite, the CCP has launched yet another round of attacks against Falun Gong practitioners around the world. This large-scale propaganda effort about the "self-immolation" incident is part of a political conspiracy. It seems the CCP is putting all its eggs in one basket, by trying to demonize Falun Gong with the "self-immolation" case as a last ditch effort.
In my opinion, the CCP has made a miscalculation with widely promoting the immolation hoax abroad, because doing so will have the opposite of the intended effect.
First, the CCP has made a big mistake in promoting its version of the "self-immolation" incident. Falun Gong teachings forbid killing and suicide; not a single practitioner burned himself before the persecution started, and none abroad have done so, either. From these facts alone it's obvious that the "self-immolation" has nothing to do with Falun Gong.
Still, the CCP used this case as an impetus to drastically escalate the persecution of Falun Gong, which resulted in countless arrests, barbaric torture and even the murdering of innocent people. To date, at least 1,353 practitioners are verified to have died from torture, but the actual number is believed to be much higher. At the same time, the CCP has poisoned the minds of the Chinese public and incited hatred against the kind-hearted practitioners. The "self-immolation" incident itself reflects the complete lack of rationality of the persecution as well as the perpetrators' lack of any human nature. The CCP's unhealthy enthusiasm for forcing unwilling people to listen to its propaganda will only further expose its nature and anger the Chinese people and those in the international community who have learned the truth about the case. It will also serve as more evidence in the future trials of those who have participated in the persecution.
Secondly, the official Chinese report of the incident contains many discrepancies that do not withstand careful analysis. The CCTV videotape shows Liu Chunling collapsing to the ground after being hit over the head with a blunt object; the tape shows three versions of "self-immolator" Wang Jindong that look very different from one another; Wang Jindong's sideburns remained intact after the fire; the immolators had their entire bodies bandaged in the hospital, contrary to standard medical practice for burn victims; and the videotape captures timely and up-close views of the immolators from various angles, indicating that the event was staged from the beginning. Aside from many other violations of common sense, all of the above facts prove the "self-immolation" to be a hoax. One can learn much by watching an analysis of the CCTV videotape at http://minghui.ca/mh/articles/2001/10/1/17092.html in Chinese and http://asp.fgmtv.org/ProgramDetail.asp?NewsID=45&OtherInfo=1 in English.
Even though they know that many people living outside of China are aware of the facts of the "self-immolation," this has not deterred the CCP from inundating private phones with lies about the "suicide-murder" case, which not only demonstrates the questionable intelligence of those in CCP who are doing this, but also exposes their desperation as they makes their final, desperate attempts to defame Falun Gong.
Third, the CCP has considerably underestimated the ability of Falun Gong practitioners and people in the international community to think independently. The CCP must be assuming that a bombardment of unwanted phone calls will successfully brainwash people and that it can cut off the dissemination of the truth in foreign countries as it does in China. Deceiving itself, it assumes the total ignorance of the international community regarding the CCP's tendency to concoct lies, and that people will believe its propaganda without a second thought. They are wrong!
In May 2001, the Chinese government allowed some foreign reporters into the Masanjia Labor Camp for a visit that included conversations with inmates. Nevertheless, Chinese officials accompanied the reporters and monitored the whole process. All of the interviewed detainees told the reporters with the same tone, "We are never tortured here," although this labor camp has a reputation of being a torture chamber. NBC's correspondent Ned Colt saw the signs of a cover-up and said, "I'm struck by the smell of new paint. All four buildings we've visited have been freshly whitewashed."
In 2003, when major foreign media outlets reported the emergence of SARS in Beijing, top Beijing officials denied the facts and permitted experts from the World Health Organization to visit military hospitals in Beijing. According to Time Asia, "...just hours before the WHO's inspection team arrived, more than 40 confirmed SARS patients at the capital's No. 309 People's Liberation Army Hospital were transferred out of their beds to the Zihuachun Hotel on the hospital grounds and at the China Japan Friendship Hospital, 31 confirmed SARS patients, all doctors, nurses and hospital workers, were packed into ambulances and driven around Beijing for the duration of the WHO team's visit, the doctors said." "TIME received a letter from an informed local medical source, charging that in order to prepare for the WHO team's arrival, Beijing's No. 302 People's Liberation Army Hospital, already filled to capacity with SARS patients, had emptied its two infectious disease wards of SARS patients." Beijing's cover-up of the epidemic was thus exposed.
The CCP is unable to block circulation of Falun Gong related information in foreign countries. With free information readily available in those countries, the CCP's propaganda bubbles burst under the sun, because a breeding ground for their lies does not exist outside of China. People will try to obtain facts and opinions from different perspectives when they have unrestricted access to information. Thus, with respect to the "self immolation," it is not difficult for one to come to a correct conclusion once one understands the discrepancies contained in the story.
Finally, the CCP has underestimated Falun Gong practitioners' ability to spread the truth and it has also underestimated the power of the truth itself. The CCP has failed to prevent the truth from spreading even in China, not to mention abroad. After the Associated Press published a reprint of CCP's propaganda on the "self-immolation" case a few weeks ago, overseas Falun Gong practitioners quickly started to clarify the truth to the media. Outside the AP building in New York, some reporters who learned the truth asked the practitioners where they could learn Falun Gong. Many news agencies that carried the false report published positive reports on Falun Gong after receiving feedback from Falun Gong practitioners, and many websites quickly removed the misleading article.
The ignorant and unscrupulous CCP has forgotten one thing: a lie that has been repeated 1,000 times is still a lie. Slanderous propaganda does not have a monopoly in the free world. Aside from attracting greater attention to the persecution, the propaganda the CCP had disseminated overseas will also trigger more investigation and independent thinking about the "self-immolation" case. People who already know the truth react with repulsion and are now even more clear-headed about the CCP's evil nature.
Foreign governments and related agencies are paying close attention to the CCP's harassing phone calls. Now the whole world is watching as the CCP shoots itself in the foot.
