(Clearwisdom.net) Greetings, Singapore officials! I am a permanent resident of Singapore and lived there for four years. Although I have been living overseas for four years, I'm still very concerned about the news from Singapore. When I recently read a report on the web about two Falun Gong practitioners being sentenced, I was very disappointed in Singapore.
One night four years ago, I came to Iris Reservoir Park with my parents to mourn with other uncles and aunts for one hundred Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted to death in China. My friends and I sat quietly on the ground holding small light bars in front of our chests and mourned silently for those fellow Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China who lost their lives for persisting in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." We did not adopt any violence, we did not disturb the public. We simply sat there quietly. However, the quiet was soon broken by the blasts of sirens. Several police cars arrived. Police rushed into our circle and told us to leave immediately. They even tried to take away the two wreaths fully coved with pictures of those fellow practitioners who had been persecuted to death. Some practitioners tried to communicate with the police, told them our intention, and told them how we believed that in a democratic country we ought to have such freedom. But the police refused our request and even started to arrest people.
I was twelve years old then, an age of being able to understand things. I clearly knew that we did not disturb the public, nor did we damage public property. We simply sat together quietly. Why did the police arrest us? Soon, more police came. They forcibly took away fifteen practitioners including my parents. My parents were forced into a police car before I had time to speak a word with them! My heart was broken. In my heart, I feel that police are responsible to protect good people. Why had they arrested good people? I could not understand. I only knew that I lost my parents that night. I cried and questioned the police on the road as to why they took away my parents. I seriously told the police to release them as soon as possible since they had done no wrong! The times after that were hard. My father lost his job and was fined. My mother was imprisoned. After being released, my mother's permanent residency was revoked and she was ordered to leave Singapore. Thus we became international refugees. I do not understand. What is the difference between this kind of action by the Singapore government and Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners?
Today, after four years, the Singapore government has made another unjust decision and imprisoned two Falun Gong practitioners who distributed truth-clarifying flyers. I want to ask Singapore officials: Are the laws of Singapore based on protecting or persecuting kind people? Don't you feel it ridiculous that a person is put into jail because he or she explained the truth to another person? Please ask yourself in your heart whether this kind of action is right. Furthermore, people have witnessed the peace that Falun Gong has brought to this society during these past years. It is already an undeniable fact that Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance can lead people towards kindness. The Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong has been condemned around the world. This is enough to prove that the persecution of Falun Gong is wrong and that it will be condemned, which is already happening. Why do you follow the Chinese Communist Party's wrongdoing? The Singapore media's distorted reporting can only make people lose trust in the government and the media. What good can this do to you? Officials of Singapore, please think it over. Give the Singapore people a chance to choose their future by themselves, and do not be controlled by the Chinese Communist Party any longer. Everybody has a conscience. I hope you will not lose your conscience over fame and profit. When disaster really happens, you cannot save your own life no matter how much money you have. Only with conscience and kind thoughts can one truly save oneself. Good being rewarded with good and bad being rewarded with bad is not just a saying. It has manifest in many cases throughout history.
I truly hope that all uncles and aunts from all offices of the Singapore government will give themselves and the Singapore people a chance as well by making a right choice.
