(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Liu Lifen was a resident of Dongzhuchen Village, Huangshanpu Town, Yishui County, Linyi City, Shandong Province. Villagers called her "Mom Liu."
Ms. Liu had a hard life. Having lost her mother when she was just three years old, and her father at the age of 8, she was raised by her grandmother, who was very kind to her. However, the pain of losing parents could not be compensated. Ms. Liu was born a kind person with a peaceful, caring nature.
After marriage, she was ill-treated by her mother-in-law and sister-in-laws. Since her family was very poor, her relationship with her husband was also not good. When her mother-in-law and father-in-law grew old, she took good care of them, even though her mother-in-law was not very nice to her. She also cared for two elderly people in her village, as they had no children of their own to take care of them. She shed many tears for the hardship and ill-treatments she suffered. Before she was 30, her eyes suffered from the frequent crying. She became very weak and relied on medicine to survive. People who knew her felt sorry for her hard life.
Ms. Liu had three sons and three daughters, and she taught them to treat people with kindness. Her three sons and one daughter attended college, had good jobs, and lived a good life. Ms. Liu was praised for her good children wherever she went, and the children showed her filial piety.
In the early 1990s, Ms. Liu's husband passed away. Her children hoped to find a good exercise program for their mother so she would become healthier. In the summer of 1996, Ms. Liu spent two weeks in the capital town of the county learning about Falun Gong, and she enjoyed the practice very much. She felt that this was what she had been looking for her whole life. Upon returning home, she taught the practice to her daughters, and later organized practice sites in the village and at her home. In the evening, the whole family would come together to study Falun Dafa and practice the exercises. They enjoyed a peaceful and happy life.
Ms. Liu experienced great changes. She had been ill for a long time, but through doing Falun Dafa exercises, she could walk even faster than young people. She no longer needed medicine, and her eyes, which hurt for 30 years, were cured. The most amazing thing is that she became a happy person. Before practicing Falun Dafa, she complained a lot to people about her sufferings. Soon after learning the practice, it seemed she lost the memories of her hardships, and she focused on how to improve herself and her relations with others according to Falun Dafa. Ms. Liu did well in meditation. She could do the sitting meditation for one to two hours without pain, while keeping a tranquil mind. She was illiterate and felt sorry that she could not read Falun Dafa articles by herself. One day, she said to Teacher, "Dear Teacher, it would be great if I could read Falun Dafa books! Teacher, could you teach me how to read?" Miracles happened. One day while looking at the pages of the Falun Dafa book, the words in the book jumped one by one into her mind like familiar friends. Only a few words were left unrecognizable and she asked others to help her learn them. Pretty soon she could read the whole book Zhuan Falun, which has over 190,000 Chinese characters, by herself. Later she could also read new articles from Teacher.
However, the good time did not last long. On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime started the cruel persecution, which caused Ms. Liu much suffering. In 2000, she did Falun Dafa exercise at the Yishui County Park and was detained for two weeks by the county 610 Office. She was later detained at the Huangshanpu Town Middle School for six months by town officers from the 610 Office. Under extreme pressure, she once yielded and did things not conforming to Falun Dafa. Later she wrote a solemn declaration to show her determination to continue Falun Dafa practice.
To resist and avoid the persecution, Ms. Liu was forced to live a homeless life for about five years, and thus she suffered a lot. Since her sons did not understand her, she had to live with her daughter Li Xiuying, who is a Falun Dafa practitioner. In September 2004, Li Xiuying was arrested and Ms. Liu became helpless. One day she fell to the ground and fainted. Medical tests showed she had a broken bone and late stage lung cancer. After that, Ms. Liu was confined to bed in critical condition. On December 22, 2004, Ms. Liu passed away.
Before her death, Ms. Liu missed her daughter who had been arrested, and hoped to be able to see her again at least once. Her children wrote letters to the Yishui County Government, but received no replies. They then contacted the forced labor camp, and the camp officers said they would consider the case after receiving permission certificates from the local hospital and police station. However, after the certificates were obtained, the camp replied, "The certificates are not valid. Although Li Xiuying's mother is very ill, she still can not be released, and must first be "reformed."
Camp guards did not even allow Ms. Liu's children to tell Li Xiuying about her mother's illness, and said that the most important thing would be to "reform" and brainwash Li Xiuying.
Ms. Liu's children were so disappointed with the cold-hearted officers. While she was on the verge of death, police officers coerced them to lie to their mother. Sad as it is, this is what happens under the Chinese Communist dictatorship.
