Falun Gong, the Chinese spiritual practice based on meditation and slow movement, may be banned by the Beijing regime, but Mei-ling Dai believes it saved her life.
The Shanghai native contracted a dire immune disorder after she moved to Australia. She took up Falun Gong, improved dramatically, and emerged determined to show her gratitude.
Dai has expressed it in a unique way. She has arranged for her family's private collection of Chinese art masterpieces, worth tens of millions of dollars, to go on a world tour.
About 40 of the works will be on view Tuesday through next Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Hilton Garden Inn, 100 Arch St.
"These are the best of the best," said Frank Xie, a Drexel University marketing professor and Falun Gong practitioner who heads the Greater Philadelphia Asian Culture Center. Xie said the center was training guides for the exhibition.
