(Clearwisdom.net) In Wanggezhuang Village, Sikou Town, Qixia City, Shandong Province, there is an elderly woman in her nineties. Her face is awash with tears and she asks people, "Where are my son and daughter-in-law? Why did they abandon me?" Fearing that she cannot bear the truth, kind-hearted people tell her that her son and daughter-in-law have gone to another place to work, which is not the case.
Liu Fanghai, the elderly lady's 53-year-old son, was illegally arrested on June 24, 2004 after the police raided his home. He was sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp and is currently incarcerated in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province. The old woman's 51-year-old daughter-in-law Liu Shuling is homeless and is going from place to place in order to avoid persecution.
Both Liu Fanghai and Liu Shuling practice Falun Gong. Before practicing, Liu Fanghai had stomach disease that prevented him from working. He spent large amounts of money, but the disease remained uncured. However, after he started practicing Falun Gong, the disease disappeared. He was then able to work outside the home. With hopes of sharing the benefits of the practice, Mr. Liu set up a practice site at his home, and many people went there to learn the practice. Before July 20, 1999, there were more than 10,000 people in Qixia City practicing Falun Gong.
The 610 Office staff members in Qixia City follow Jiang Zemin closely in the persecution of Falun Gong. They arbitrarily raid homes, illegally arrest people, and extort money from them in order to line their own pockets. They illegally sent five Falun Gong practitioners to prison, more than 30 to labor camps, and more than 300 to brainwashing centers.
On January 18, 2000, Ms. Liu Shuling went to Sujiadian to share experiences with fellow Dafa practitioners. She was reported to the police, arrested, and detained at the detention center in Qixia City for 15 days. Ms. Liu was then transferred to Sikou Town. During her one-month illegal detention, she refused to cooperate with the unreasonable demands of her persecutors and was prohibited from sleeping.
One morning in March 2000, while delivering food to illegally-detained practitioners in Sikou, Mr. Liu Fanghai was arrested. His wife Liu Shuling and another practitioner were also illegally detained for three days for delivering food.
At 11:00 a.m. on June 24, 2004, Liu Shuling was reported distributing truth clarification materials in her village. Led by Wu Changnian from Sikou Town, the 610 Office staff and more than 20 policemen in 4 or 5 police vans drove to Ms. Liu's home to arrest her, but Liu Shuling was not at home. Liu Fanghai, however, was, and he was taken away. In the afternoon of that day, the 610 Office members and policemen again invaded Liu Shuling's home. When they arrived, no one was at home. After breaking into the neighbor's yard, they picked the lock on the window and entered the house, stealing the family's TV, VCD player, and Falun Gong books and materials used in truth clarification.
After a 15-day detention, Liu Fanghui was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is currently held in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo, Shandong Province.
The 610 Office in Qixia arrested 13 Falun Gong practitioners in August 2004 and sent them to the 610 Office in Xiaozhuang, where they were subjected to brainwashing, tortured, denied sleep, and threatened. They were told, "If you don't write a repentance statement, you will not be allowed to sleep until you're dead!"
After that day, Liu Shuling left her home and has had to move from place to place to avoid arrest. Whenever a politically "sensitive date" or holiday approaches, her family is harassed.
The elderly mother of Liu Fanghai is now left alone at home. She grieves over the loss and absence of her daughter-in-law and her son, asking everyone she comes across, "Where are my son and my daughter-in-law? Why did they abandon me?"
