(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioners who belong to the Buddha School should wash their hands, clean the desktop, relinquish various human thoughts and maintain tranquil minds before beginning to read the scriptures. When finished reading, they should put away the scriptures in a neat and clean place. The scriptures should not be casually left laying about.
A righteous practice can inspire people and is something extraordinary. Even though scriptures are also printed on paper, they contain profound meaning which can only be understood by constant study, yet cannot be explained in words. We cultivate in the practice of Falun Dafa, so we should take the practice and the teachings as our teacher and gauge everything by this. If we do not treasure the books with the teachings, then what is our attitude towards cultivation? How can we elevate our moral standards and improve ourselves? Cultivation is very serious. If we don't respect the righteous way and treasure scriptures of the practice, and we still want to get rid of our illness and karma and improve our energy field, how can that be possible? We must respect the practice and Teacher. How is it possible for someone to gain supernormal things without studying the teachings and cultivating him or herself?
Only by calming down to study can we truly improve. If we study with non-tranquil minds, that is not cultivation. Cultivation is not something for other people to see, but for ourselves to do solidly.
The above is my personal understanding. Please point out anything improper.
