Confidential Document from Tangshan City 6-10 Office, now also known as the "Cult Prevention and Management" Office (The Epoch Times) |
Recently, The Epoch Times acquired a confidential document from the 6-10 Office bureau in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. The document ordered a province-wide "concentrated and bottom-up investigation" requiring "registration and profile collection on each individual Falun Gong practitioner." These new orders imply that many "untransformed" Falun Gong practitioners remain in Tangshan, and that the 6-10 Office intends to continue its persecution policies.
"Transformation" is the euphemism the 6-10 Office uses for forcing Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their beliefs, described by numerous Falun Gong practitioners as extreme forms of brainwashing and torture.
The source inside China who sent the document said that the 6-10 Office in Tangshan city, Hebei province, will begin another round of targeted persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, an operation codenamed "Operation Spring Thunder," following orders from the 610 Office headquarters in Beijing.
The document requires that the CCP commission of each township, county and city district, as well as agencies under the direct control of the district governments, conduct a concentrated, detailed investigation on Falun Gong practitioners in their area. The goal is to have a clear count of the Falun Gong practitioners who have refused to be "transformed," their educational background, intelligence level, skill level, whether they have been imprisoned, fired from work, or terminated from their schools, and whether they were formerly coordinators of Falun Gong assistance centers.
According to sources, the thorough investigation started on April 5, 2006. Each village, residence, and work unit is being checked. A profile is being created for each practitioner. A policy that places a focus on the investigation of rental apartments where migrant workers live has also been put into effect. The project is highly confidential, and "key" Falun Gong practitioners' profiles are to be completed by the end of April.
The document said when investigating dedicated Falun Gong followers, "Police officers must be present. In the case of any unexpected circumstance, we will strike hard. When conducting the search, we will only do it but will not announce the operation. The operation is strictly confidential. We must tightly control the number of people who know about the project. We should not allow anyone to have a hold against us, be cautious when using violence."
On April 8, The Epoch Times reported on the escalation of the persecution against Falun Gong, using Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province as an example. Recently, the Shijiazhuang police and 6-10 Office officers hosted a joint meeting, ordering all police stations, neighborhood committees, fire fighting departments, and work units to plan for another round of persecution. The goal is to target rental units, migrant workers, and key Falun Gong practitioners over the next three months. They also ordered every neighborhood committee to register the home phone numbers of known Falun Gong practitioners.
Analysts have pointed out that over the last few years, the CCP intentionally suppressed news about Falun Gong in mainland China, leading many to believe that Falun Gong has disappeared in on the mainland. However, such information from the 6-10 Office indicates that many Falun Gong practitioners have persisted in the practice.
