Falun Gong practitoner Ms. Sun Li has been on a hunger strike for about 20 days and is very weak. Her family has called urgently for her release on medical bail.
Ms. Sun Li is 50 years old. She was once a worker in the Jingang Group. She lives in the Agriculture Research Department Dormitory on Huaibei Road. On September 6, 2005, she was arrested by the Yuhua Branch of the Police Station. Because they found the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and other Falun Gong "truth clarification" materials, she was sentenced to prison for five years and six months by the Yuhua District Court at the beginning of March 2006. Ms. Sun was detained in Room 136 of the Second Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City. The police in the detention center constrained her in handcuffs and leg shackles. Ms. Sun believes herself to be innocent and has filed a lawsuit at the Intermediate Court in Shijiazhuang City.
After she was arrested on September 6, 2005, Ms. Sun was detained in the Honglou Hotel to be persecuted. The policemen once forced her to sit in the iron chair for 10 days and nights, not allowing her to sleep. When she was half-conscious, they forced a false confession out of her.
At the end of December 2005, the Yuhua District Court carried out a secret court investigation. Sun Li declared many times in front of the judge and the police that the affidavit she made in her half-conscious state was null and void, and that she did not harm society or anybody else at all. Ms. Sun was already very thin by then and also very weak. She demanded adamantly that she be released immediately.
Sun Li was once detained in Room 137 in the Second Detention Center, and has been detained in Room 136 since the middle of April 2006. She has already been on a hunger strike for about 20 days. She is very weak, but the police still shackled her with linked-shackles, in which handcuffs and leg shackles are linked together so that the victim cannot stand up, but only half-squat or completely squat.
Sun Li has been detained for more than 200 days. Her 80-year-old mother was very anxious for her daughter. Learning that her daughter went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days and was constrained in handcuffs and leg shackles, she became very anxious. The old woman called loudly, "No matter in which dynasty in history, victims have always been released on medical bail. I hope the officials concerned will conduct a careful investigation soon for the sake of an old white-haired woman, and rescue my daughter!"
