(Clearwisdom.net) An exhibition by a group of artists who practice Falun Gong was held at Kannenfeldpark, a recreational park outside the city of Basel. Thirty-three separate artworks were on display between May 20th and the 28th, 2006, as part of the exhibit entitled, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance."
Many practitioners from German-speaking Switzerland and Southern Germany were of great help and the exhibition was a resounding success.
The invitation, which featured the painting "Lotus Candles," was easy to distribute. Many of the people who came to the exhibition talked positively about the pictures. The art exhibition was an opportunity to learn about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and at the same time experience some of the beauty of the cultivation system and the magnificence of Falun Dafa.
Much that seemed strange to the visitors the prior year was accepted readily this time. For example, the halo (wreath of light) above the head of practitioners was accepted without any second thought, as was the skull above the police and prison guards who tortured practitioners. The police may have power over the physical body, but not the mind of practitioners who hold righteous belief in Falun Dafa.
Many visitors happily accepted a guided tour of the exhibition. Thus, many opportunities arose to talk about the practice of cultivation, expose the persecution, and expose the truth about the communist regime and their practice of organ harvesting. This helped the visitors gain a deep understanding of the situation in China. One visitor even came from a distance of 200 kilometers to see the extraordinary pictures. He remained for a long time in the exhibition hall.
The head of "Inforel," an impartial entity that provides information about religions and religious movements in Basel, Mr. Christof Peter Baumann, wrote the following in the guest book, "The character of Falun Gong is shown clearly by depicting the persecution in China through pictures. May goodness win!"
At the time when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong and spread lies throughout the world, his association checked out Falun Gong. One of his co-workers learned the exercises, read the book Zhuan Falun and joined discussions with practitioners. This is how the association learned about Falun Gong.
Many visitors were shocked by the brutality of the persecution by the CCP. Many people supported Falun Gong and thanked us for our dedication to the cause of exposing and ending the persecution.
Shortly after the exhibition opened, two Catholic nuns stood before the door. They explained that they had received a letter, which made them decide to come and view the art exhibition. They could barely conceal their excitement to see the pictures and listen to the guided tour.
A young Turkish man was visiting relatives in Basel. He was resting on a bench in the park when I gave him the invitation. He also came later to see the art exhibition.
We found that more than 400 visitors had signed the petition to support Falun Gong and end the persecution. Parents encouraged their children and children encouraged their parents to sign the petition.
Young people from a nearby clinic came with their teacher. They rushed into the exhibition hall and their guardian had to encourage them to contain their excitement. All of them signed the petition.
One woman sent us a letter thanking us for the detailed and moving explanations of the paintings. She was deeply concerned about the situation in China and gave a donation to the Friends of Falun Gong.
Many passersby also looked at the pictures through the large window in the front of the building. Every visitor was given informational materials and a paper lotus flower that had been made by practitioners.
Shortly before the close of the art exhibition, a man who had taken the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" the day before came to talk to us. He told us, "I already knew that this regime was evil, but I never thought they were as cruel and as dishonest as what I read in the Nine Commentaries." The truth unsettled and shocked him deeply.
