(Clearwisdom.net) On July 29, 2006, 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners from Taiwan assembled in a park in Taichung to expose the Chinese Communist Party's crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. After dark, the practitioners held a candlelight vigil in memory of fellow practitioners who were tortured to death during the persecution, and called for an end of the persecution.

Falun Dafa was introduced to Taiwan in April 1995. Practitioners are from all walks of life, including professors, doctors, lawyers, engineers, government officers, soldiers, businessmen, students and housewives. There are almost 1,000 exercise sites in 300 cities and towns in Taiwan. There are even exercise sites in Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu.
The Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999. As of July 2006, 2,932 Falun Gong practitioners are verified to have been tortured to death in China. Thousands of practitioners are being jailed in labor camps and prisons. But in Taiwan, Falun Gong is developing very fast. The number of practitioners keeps increasing. Since Falun Gong helps people improve their physical and spiritual health, it is praised and supported by the government and each community in Taiwan.
