On April 27, 2007, a group of officials from Qiangyin County 610 Office, from the National Security Bureau, and from the police department and the county government in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Yingqing in Hepingzha Town near Dongting Lake and took her to the Xiangyin County Detention Center, where they held her for four days. They took her to the Baimalong Women's Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, on April 21. She was held at the same labor camp once before, in 2002.
Yang Yingqing went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in November 2000 and local police followed and arrested her. She was taken to Xiangyin County Detention Center and held for 100 days. In addition, she had 7,000 yuan extorted from her. Officials from the police department and the county government constantly harassed her.
The police found a Falun Gong exercise instruction tape at Ms. Yang's home in July 2002. They arrested her and took her to the county detention center. Three months later they took her to the Baimalong Women's Labor Camp where she went blind as a result of torture. She was eventually released after repeated requests from her family.
