(Clearwisdom.net) Since the wicked Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched its suppression of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Ms. Hou Manyun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shuiyunxiang Village, Laiyuan County, Hebei Province, and her family have never had a moment of peace.
After July 20, 1999, the Chinese authorities have repeatedly harassed, arrested, imprisoned and tortured Ms. Hou Manyun, subjecting her and her family to the CCP's red terror. Her young son, attending elementary school, jumps at the sound of a doorbell and will not let anyone in until he or she announces himself or herself because he is afraid that it might be the Chinese police attempting to arrest his parents. The Chinese police illegally arrested his mother and sent his father to a forced labor camp. The police even threaten a child his age who practices Falun Gong by saying, "Do you dare practice Falun Gong now? If so, we will lock up you too!" The two children almost burst into tears out of fear.
Ms. Hou Manyun, a woman in her fifties, started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Before she started practicing Falun Gong, she suffered from a myriad of illness. Her lower back pain was particularly intense. Because of the lower back pain, Ms. Hou had difficulty turning over at night during her sleep. When she heard that Falun Gong has miraculous powers of healing illness, she decided to give it a try. Shortly after she started practicing Falun Gong, all of her illnesses were cured. She is a witness of Falun Gong's magnificence. Soon her husband started practicing Falun Gong as well. Unfortunately, their good cultivation environment didn't last long because the CCP started the suppression of Falun Gong in 1999.
In August 1999, officers from the Chengguan Police Station unlawfully arrested Ms. Hou Manyun at her home and locked her up in a local detention center. A police officer named Lin repeatedly and violently whipped Ms. Hou Manyun's face with a large chain of keys from the detention center. Ms. Hou could not help covering her face due to the intense pain, but the policeman began to whip her even more violently while shouting at her and telling her to remove her hands from her face! Soon a man named Sun, secretary of the local Public Security Bureau (PSB) in charge of the detention center, arrived with a group of armed policemen. They surrounded Ms. Hou, and at Sun's order, began to punch Ms. Hou as though she were a punching bag. When she collapsed, the police pulled her up and resumed their violence. When she collapsed again, they pulled up her again and resumed the beating. Finally, they threw Ms. Hou into a police car and continued beating her repeatedly.
Later, when she was found practicing Falun Gong exercises in her cell at the detention center, warden Xu Zhenfu and prison doctor Ma Shuanyu cuffed her arms cuffed behind her back, and left the handcuffs on for 23 days. Even when she ate or when she used the bathroom, her arms were cuffed behind her back. During the 23 days, Ms. Hou was unable to lay down or lean against the wall. She could only sit, day or night, with the handcuffs cutting into her flesh. The puss and body fluids left a thick coating on the handcuffs.
In 2001, the Public Security Bureau (PSB) in Laiyuan County invited Ms. Hou for lunch, but she was instead taken to the Baoding Forced Labor Camp when she arrived. The camp tortured Ms. Hou in many ways in an attempt to force her to renounce Falun Gong. In the spring of 2002, she went on a hunger strike as a non-violent means of protesting the tortures designed to make her renounce Falun Gong. But a prison doctor named Du didn't try to nourish her. Instead, he used force-feeding as an additional form of torture to make her renounce Falun Gong. He had Ms. Hou's arms and legs cuffed to a chair and had about six inmates hold her down while he pried her mouth open and repeatedly poked inside of her mouth with a knife, shouting, "I will make you stop eating all together even if you want to eat!"
The medical doctor punctured many places in Ms. Hou's tongue and cheeks, which caused profuse bleeding. The blood soaked her coat, sweater and underwear. The doctor then locked her neck against the chair and tilted her head backwards. He had a prison inmate pinch her nose while he force-fed fluids into her mouth. Ms. Hou passed out due to suffocation. It was not until Ms. Hou stopped breathing that the medical doctor told the prison inmates to release her. He repeatedly pressed on her chest to resuscitate her. But when Ms. Hou came to, he ordered the prison inmates to continue the torture until she passed out again. The deadly force-feeding torture was repeated until the prison inmates were exhausted. The prison guards then forced Ms. Hou, who was barely breathing, to wash the blood stains from her clothes. Since that day, Ms. Hou's heart has not been functioning well, and often palpitates. She also frequently has difficulty breathing.
In the fall of 2002, a prison guard named Zhang Guohong ordered a few prison inmates to haul Ms. Hou to a conference room where she was repeatedly beaten by the prison inmates. They pulled out a lot of her hair, which was scattered all over the floor. After a long round of brutal beatings, Ms. Hou attempted to gather the hair on the floor as evidence of the torture, but the prison guard grabbed the hair from her. Afterwards, Ms. Hou had a severe headache and felt like vomiting. She also lost part of her vision. She was diagnosed with a concussion. A prison guard named Chen Yajuan (female) threatened her, "If you dare to file a lawsuit against the camp, we will throw your husband into a forced labor camp too!"
In 2003, Ms. Hou was released. Her health was finally restored after she practiced Falun Gong exercises and studied Falun Gong books for a period of time. On July 16, 2007, the police from the State Security Bureau broke into her home and unlawfully arrested her. To this day, Ms. Hou is still unlawfully incarcerated in Laiyuan County Detention Center where she faces cruel torture.
For the past eight years of the CCP suppression of Falun Gong, two practitioners from Laiyuan County have been tortured to death, several dozen have been unlawfully sentenced to serve time in forced labor camps or prisons, several hundred have been unlawfully imprisoned and countless family members have been harassed by the local authorities.
