(Clearwisdom.net) Under pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the Coex Theater in Seoul recently canceled a contract with NTDTV Korea. Hosted by NTDTV Korea, the Divine Performing Arts was scheduled to perform at the Coex from April 24 to 26. On April 20, the Seoul Central Court ruled that the COEX Theater violated the law and ordered the theater to pay all lawsuit expenses of the plaintiff. Now, the Divine Performing Arts will perform as scheduled and most tickets have been sold.
According to The Epoch Times, on the morning of April 20, the Seoul Central Court ruled that Coex Theater violated the law and ordered it to pay all lawsuit expenses.
After reviewing the program of the show and preparation details, the judge concluded that the program of the Divine Performing Arts has no content that violates Korean laws or disturbs the social order and has no content that may jeopardize the Korea-China trade relationship. The judge said that it was hard to claim that the show has any political intention, and thus all arguments provided by the Coex Theater were found to be invalid.
On February 7, Coex signed a contract with NTDTV Korea to provide the venue for the visiting Divine Performing Arts. On March 14, however, Coex suddenly canceled the contract. NTDTV Korea believed that the theater canceled the contract because of pressure from the Chinese Embassy and decided to sue.
In the verdict issued on the morning of April 20, the Seoul Central Court ordered that the Coex Theater should host the Divine Performing Arts as scheduled. Before the ruling, to ensure that the show would be staged as scheduled, the judge told the plaintiff and defendant that the Court would draw a conclusion as soon as possible and issue the final verdict at the final trial.
While Korean judges give full consideration to the defendants' arguments, the judge in this lawsuit found all the arguments of the Coex Theater invalid.
The plaintiff, NTDTV Korea, said that it was very satisfied with the verdict and would provide additional supporting documents to the court.
Unstoppable Divine Performing Arts
The Korea visit of the Divine Performing Arts has been canceled twice because of interference from the CCP. After learning that it has given world-class performances around the world and its programs showcase authentic Chinese culture, however, the Korean peoples' expectations have been continuously increasing. In just two days, all 4000 tickets for the two shows scheduled on April 24 and 25 were sold out.
Considering the emotional response from the public, NTDTV Korea said that it had decided to add a show on the afternoon of April 25. Although April 25 is a weekday, tickets for this afternoon show are also running out quickly.
