(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' note: In both Western and Chinese cultures, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with this principle, while doing things such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.
The relative of a Falun Gong practitioner works in a police station. This relative went out of his way to persecute practitioners. He also refused to listen when practitioners clarified the truth about Falun Gong to him. This practitioner worried about his relative. He discussed this with other practitioners and managed to obtain the names and address of the officers at the police station. The practitioners regularly sent truth clarifying materials to the policemen.
In the early half of 2007, officers at this police station received a phone call. The caller said that Falun Gong practitioners in a certain small district were distributing copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and other materials related to Falun Gong. The caller had captured one practitioner and wanted the policemen to come quickly to take him away. The policeman on duty then was a minor official and had read the truth clarification materials. He was unwilling to go arrest the practitioners, but three new officers who had just come to work at this police station said, "You are on duty, you are also an officer. How can you not go? The phone calls keep coming in, urging us to go. If you don't want to go, the three of us will go."
These three policemen had not read the truth clarification materials. The policemen on duty told them, "Don't go! Leave it be!" The three others did not pay him any heed and drove off. But as they drove along Lower Xinhua Road, their car collided with another vehicle. Two of the officers died on the spot. Another one was sent for emergency treatment and died very soon after.
This incident shocked many police officers in Wuhan City. Since the persecution started eight years ago, practitioners have disregarded their own safety and tried many ways to clarify the truth to others and to warn them of the principle of karmic retribution. They do this for the good of others.
