(Clearwisdom.net) Seventy-year-old Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Mengshu from Jianyang City in Sichuan Province was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was inhumanely tortured in the Longquanyi Women's Prison in Chengdu City. She is currently in critical condition. Her family members are strongly demanding that she be released unconditionally. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials however, have totally ignored them.
On March 15, 2007, officer Li Yongda from the Yangma Police Station, along with more than ten policemen from the Jianyang Domestic Security Division, arrested Dafa practitioners Li Mengshu and Hu Yuanzhen while they were informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong in a market in Zhoujia Town. During their illegal detention, Li Mengshu's family members went to the Jianyang Domestic Security Division and demanded her immediate release. The authorities refused to set her free, saying that she had violated the law. The family members demanded that the 610 Office, Domestic Security Division and Political and Legal Committee provide a legal basis, but they were not able to present any basis. Instead, they arrogantly said, "You can lodge a lawsuit if you are capable!"
Li Mengshu's spouse Wu Tianhui couldn't bear such a heavy blow, and he passed away on April 22. The CCP officials didn't even let them see each other for the last time.
After Li Mengshu was illegally sentenced, her salary was also cut off. She was detained in Longquan Women's Prison where she was not allowed to practice Falun Gong and the guards tried many torture methods on her.
She was tortured to the verge of death and was sent to the Jingguan Hospital (in Prison Area No. 2) located at Shuangliu in Chengdu. The hospital then issued a "critically ill" notice to the family. Her family members requested that she be set free for medical treatment, but the officials shifted the responsibility to each other and continued holding her. They gave no reply to her family.
