Mr. Xiong Zhengming, 39, was a computer science teacher at Wanyuan City Professional High School, in Sichuan Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. He was healthy both physically and mentally. He worked hard and was well respected by students and colleagues. In February 2007, Xiong Zhengming was taken away by Zhao Chenghua, head of the 610 Office, and other police officers. After this news was exposed, several dozen students from Wanyuan City Professional High School went to the police station and requested that Xiong Zhengming be released. Several students among them were also detained.

According to a witness, several people dragged Mr. Ba Shuqun out of a car. His trial was scheduled to be on the second floor. However, it was difficult for several police officers to carry him up the stairs. Consequently, the hearing was then changed to another very small room on the first floor. When Mr. Ba was being interrogated, someone had to support him because he was unable to stand up and he was on crutches. He looked pale and wan.
