(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 28 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 24 practitioners were subjected to brutal treatment during their detention and at least 46 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Numerous Practitioners Taken into Custody
Between February 27, 2008 and March 5, 2008, the Dehui City Police Department, the 610 Office, the Changchun City State Security Department and the Changchun City Domestic Security Division launched a campaign to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in order to "maintain security" prior to the Olympic Games. According to incomplete statistics, several dozen practitioners have been unlawfully taken into custody, and some have been forced to leave home and are homeless.
Practitioners arrested include: Mr. Liu Bingqi, Mr. Zhang Shouping, Mr. Zhang Guiquan, Xiangzi (female), Ms. Liu Donghui, Ms. Wang Di, Ms. Hu Li, Xiaoyan (female), Ms. Wang Changying, Mr. He Wen, Mr. Li Zhenyu, Ms. Wang Dongmei, Ms. Sun Yuxia, Dajun (male), Mr. Wang Jiafei, Ms. Liu Fang and her father, Ms. Han Dianfen, Mr. Wang Changzhi, Ms. Lu Shufeng, Mr. Sun Fei, Ms. Meng Lingli, Mr. Xiao Maoshu, Mr. Li Zhonghua, and Mr. Gao Hui.
Some of the practitioners were taken to Changchun Forced Labor Camp on March 13 and March 15. The labor camp officials refused to admit them due their poor physical condition. However, they remain in custody at the Dehui Detention Center.

2. [Tianjin] Two Practitioners in Dagang District Taken into Custody
On the evening of March 24, 2008, Ms. Yang Jinyang and Ms. Deng Liangqiong, two practitioners in Dagang District, were taken to the Banchang Police Station because they were distributing truth clarification materials. The police searched their homes the same night and confiscated Falun Dafa materials.
3. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Xinchun Persecuted by Jinshantun 610 Office
On March 11, 2008, officials of the 610 Office and the Jinshantun Closed-Circuit Television Station confiscated Mr. Wang Xinchun's home satellite antenna in Fengmao Forestry Farm, Jinshantun District, Yichun City. On March 18, Mr. Wang went to the television station asking that his satellite antenna be returned. He was turned in to the police and taken to the Fendou Police Station. He was sent back to Fengmao Forestry Farm. On March 25, Mr. Wang went to the 610 Office and asked Xiao Jingyu (male), director of the 610 Office, pesonally for his satellite antenna to be returned. He was again taken back to the forestry farm.

4. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Jirong Taken into Custody
At around 1:00 p.m. on March 25, 2008, Ms. Wu Jirong, 58, a practitioner who lives in Gaojialou Village in Weicheng District, Weifang City, was taken away from her home by officers from the Railroad Station Police Department and the Weicheng District Police Department. The police confiscated a computer, a printer, Falun Dafa books, a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong, and some truth clarification materials.
5. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhou Daiju Taken into Custody
At around 9:30 a.m. on March 13, 2008, Ms. Zhou Daiju was eating at home in Daciyi Village, Zengcun Town, Gaocheng City in Shijiazhuang area, Hebei Province. Three or four police officers from the Zengcun Police Station broke into her home and took Ms. Zhou away to the Gaocheng City Detention Center. Ms. Zhou is a widow, her in-laws are in their 80s, her sister-in-law cannot take care of herself, and her two children are still young.

6. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Peizhi's Husband Taken into Custody
At around 12:30 p.m. on March 24, 2008, a group of people who claimed to be state security officers broke into practitioner Ms. Zhou Peizhi's home in Shiji Residential Community on Tuanjie Road, Huangdao District, Qingdao City. They took all Falun Dafa books, a notebook computer, a DVD burner, a printer, a fax and all truth clarification materials. Ms. Zhou's husband, who is not a practitioner, was taken into custody. His whereabouts is unknown.
7. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Shuhui and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
At around 7:00 a.m. on March 20, 2008, Zhang Yaoming (male), director of the Fate Town Police Station in Shulan City, and several other officers broke into Ms. Xu Shuhui's home at No. 1 Commune in Yanggong Village, Fate Town. The officers took Ms. Xu to the police station and confiscated Falun Dafa books and personal items.
8. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chu Hongfen Taken into Custody
At noon on March 23, 2008, Ms. Chu Hongfen was turned in to the police near the railroad tracks in Yi County. Officers from the Yi County Railroad Police Station took her into custody. Ms. Chu is being held at the Jinzhou City Railroad Detention Center.

9. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Aunt Zhou and Aunt Song Taken into Custody
At 10:30 a.m. on March 21, 2008, Aunt Zhou and Aunt Song, were taken into custody at the Bairen Residential Community in Chengdu City and officially placed in detention. One of them is being held on administrative charges, the other on criminal charges. They are being held at the Pi County Detention Center.
10. [Baiyin City, Gansu Province] Ms. Cui Jianping Taken into Custody
On March 24, 2008, Ms. Cui Jianping, a practitioner in Baiyin City, was taken into custody. The police searched her home and confiscated a computer. Ms. Cui is being held at the Baiyin City Detention Center.
11. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Xia Faces Unlawful Court Hearing
On October 9, 2007, Ms. Liu Xia was taken into custody after being followed by the state security police for a long time. The police searched her home. Ms. Liu was unlawfully held in Daqing City before she was transferred to the Zhaoyuan County Detention Center on March 10, 2008. She faces a court hearing on March 28, 2008.

12. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Tian Baoyu and Four Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On the evening of March 20, 2008, Ms. Tian Baoyu, Ms. Yu Feng Xian, Mr. Shi Mengwei, and two other practitioners who work at the Jiansanjiang Administration Department in Jiamusi City were driving around distributing truth clarification materials. The police took them into custody. At 8:00 a.m. on March 21, 2008, the police searched the practitioners' homes.
Earlier on March 4, some practitioners held at the Qinglongshan Detention Center were transferred to the Qianjin Farm Detention Center affiliated with the Jiansanjiang Administration Department.

13. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yin Zhenxiang Taken into Custody
On March 19, 2008, Ms. Yin Zhenxiang went to Taiping Township in Suihua City to clarify the truth. She was turned in to the Taiping Township Police Station. Officers from the Taiping Township Police Station and Beilin District Police Department in Suihua City took her into custody and beat her. Ms. Yin was forced to lead the officers to her home for an unlawful search. She is being held at the Suihua City Detention Center.
14. [Chongqing] Two Practitioners Taken into Custody
At 8:00 p.m. on March 24, 2008, a group of plainclothes officers, who claimed to be from the Xinqiao Police Station in Chongqing, broke into practitioner Ms. Qiu Cuixiang's home. They took her into custody, and it is thought that she is being held at the Xinqiao Police Station.
Last week, in the Qingmuguan area in Chongqing, the police broke into a motorcycle parts store and took into custody practitioner Mr. Gao Hong.
15. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Pang Junyuan on Hunger Strike
On March 2, 2008, Ms. Pang Junyuan, a practitioner who lives in the Luoshuihe area in Fusong County, Baishan City, was taken into custody. She has been on a hunger strike for over 20 days in the detention center, and her life is in imminent danger. She was transferred to the No. 1 Public Security Hospital in Changchun City for continued abuse.
Officers from the Jilin Province Police Department were directly involved in Ms. Pang's case. They took possession of her entire savings worth over 200,000 yuan. Ms. Pang's family is now without money.
16. [Beijing] Ms. Li Xiaofeng and Other Practitioners Taken to Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Li Xiaofeng, Ms. Wei Shuqin, and Ms. Cao Zhimin are being held at the No. 8 Division in the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Li and Ms. Cao have been detained there for over two years. They have held firm to their belief in Falun Dafa. Ms. Wei has been detained there for over six months. The labor camp guards spread slanderous remarks to the drug addict and the prostitute inmates in order to recruit them to assist in persecuting the practitioners.
Ms. Jiang Jianxue suffers from muscular atrophy and all of her limbs are numb. The labor camp authorities are afraid that their cruelty will be exposed and so they have refused to release her on medical parole. Prostitute inmates have been assigned to keep an eye on Ms. Cao around the clock.
17. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guilan Taken to Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Wang Guilan, 45, is a practitioner in Gaolin Village, Xushui County, Baoding City. On March 7, 2008, the police searched her home and took her Xushui County Detention Center. On March 19, she was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp and is serving a one-year term.
18. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on Ms. Niu Guifang and Ms. Ren Xiuqin's Being Taken into Custody
At around 1:30 a.m. on March 23, 2008, eight police officers from the Hushitai Town Police Station broke into Ms. Niu Guifang's home in Qianzhantun Village, Shenbei District. The officers took Ms. Niu, her husband, and their niece, who was visiting at the time, into custody and searched their home. Her husband and their niece were later released. That same night, Ms. Ren Xiuqin, a practitioner in Shuanglouzi Village, Hushitai Town, was also taken into custody by officers of the Hushitai Town Police Station at her home. The two practitioners are being held in a lodging facility in either the Qipanshan area or the Huishan area. They are being detained along with several people unlawfully taken into custody who appealed to the authorities for losses they incurred in a commercial ant raising scam. The scam is said to have had provincial government backing.
Officers from the Hutaishi Town had harassed Ms. Ren and Ms. Niu at their homes.
At 2:00 p.m. on March 14, 2008, Wang Dali (male), an officer from the Hutaishi Police Station, and an official from the Kunan Residential Committee harassed Ms. Ren Xiuqin at her home. They threatened her by saying that she could not go out while the National Congress and the National Political Consultative Conference were in session in Beijing. The official claimed that he would check back with Ms. Ren every day.
At 9:00 a.m. on March 15, 2008, Cui Guoyou (male), head of Qianzhantun Village, along with Lu Bo (male) and Wang Qiang (male), who claimed to be officials of the Hushitai Town Government, went to Ms. Niu Guifang's home. They climbed over a wall and looked into her home through the window. They were spotted by Ms. Ren.
At 9:00 a.m. on March 18, 2008, half a dozen officers from the Hushitai Town Police Station went to Ms. Niu Guifang's home again to harass her.

19. [Chongqing] Plainclothes Police in Jiangbei District Attempt to Locate and Arrest a Practitioner
On March 25, 2008, plainclothes police officers were searching in the Guanyinqiao area in Jiangbei District, Chongqing, for a practitioner. They had a picture of the practitioner and were trying to arrest the practitioner.
20. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Li Qin Missing for Two Weeks
Ms. Li Qin, a practitioner in the Taicang area in Suzhou City, was taken into police custody early in March while she was clarifying the truth. Her whereabouts is unknown. It is possible that she is being held at the Taicang City Detention Center.

21. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Guiling and Ms. Xiang Ying Brutally Beaten
On February 25, 2008, Mr. Wang Guiling, a practitioner in Jinzhou City, was severely beaten. Eye-witnesses said that five of his teeth were knocked out. Another practitioner, Ms. Xiang Ying, was also brutally beaten.
22. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Guihua Remains in Brainwashing Center
Ms. Song Guihua, 55, is a practitioner who lives in Kaojia Village in Zhaoyuan City. At around 6:00 p.m. on December 14, 2007, a dozen police officers arrived at her home in four or five police vehicles. They climbed over a wall and broke into her home. The officers took her to the Lingnan Gold Mine Brainwashing Center in Zhaoyuan City. Li Jianguang (male), head of the domestic security division, has often brought in thugs to the brainwashing center to conduct unlawful interrogations. Practitioners have been tortured during the interrogations. As a result of numerous beatings, Ms. Song Guihua suffers from headaches and pain all over her body. Sometimes she is bedridden.

Ms. He Chunlan, Ms. Sun Wenxia, and four or five other practitioners in Weihe Electric Generation Co. Ltd. in Xi'an City were taken to a lodging facility at the electric generation company by members of the Xianyang City "610 Office."
24. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioners Endure Intense Hard Labor at Heizuizi Prison
Recently, families went to visit practitioners being held in Heizuizi Prison in Changchun City. They learned that practitioners in the No. 5 Division have been forced to work until 2 or 3 a.m, as well as working the regular hard labor during the day. The workload is far greater than they can physically bear.

Mr. Huang Jianwen is a practitioner from Hunan Province. On February 7, 2008, he was taken into custody while clarifying the truth in Haizhu District, Guangzhou City. He has been held at the Haizhu District Detention Center. On March 11, he was officially placed under arrest.

26. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Gao Cuiping Held at Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Gao Cuiping, 58, is a practitioner who works at the Petroleum Exploration Equipment Factory in Xushui County, Baoding City. On March 3, 2008, he was taken from his home to the Xushui County Detention Center. On March 11, he was taken to Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp, possibly for a two-year term.
27. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Tang Jun Taken into Police Custody
Practitioner Ms. Tang Jun, in her 50s, lives in Wangou Town, Jiangyuan District, Baishan City. At around 3:00 p.m. on March 25, 2008, officers from the Jiangyuan District Police Department and from the Wangou Town Forestry Police Department took her into custody.

28. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Hanxin Taken into Custody
At around 8:00 a.m. on January 21, 2008, half a dozen officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Hanting District Police Department arrived at Mr. Li Hanxin's home in two police vehicles. They forced their way in, ransacked the place, and confiscated Falun Dafa materials. They then searched Mr. Li's orchard and confiscated Falun Dafa materials found there. They took Mr. Li into custody and demanded 5,000 yuan from his family. The police threatened that if his family did not bring in the cash, Mr. Li would be sentenced to prison. The day after his family paid the police 5,000 yuan in cash, Mr. Li was released.
29. [Tengzhou City, Shandong Province] Elderly Mr. Guo Jingting Taken into Custody
On the morning of March 17, 2008, Mr. Guo Jingting, in his 70s, went to a farm market north of Tengzhou City. When he was talking to others at the farm market about the cruel persecution of Falun Gong by the Communist Party, he was turned in to the authorities. A group of police officers from the Beixin Police Station in Tengzhou City rushed in. Mr. Guo was taken to the police station and then transferred to the Tengzhou City 610 Office. He was taken to the Tengzhou City Detention Center the same night.
Mr. Guo has been taken into custody several times since the start of the persecution on July 20, 1999.

30. [Pan County, Guizhou Province] Ms. Su Guangzhu Taken into Custody by Chengguan Police Station Police
At around 10:00 a.m. on March 11, 2008, Yuan Jinhui (male), director of the Chengguan Police Station in Pan County, Deputy Director Deng, and two other officers arrived in a police vehicle at practitioner Ms. Su Guangzhu's home. They took Ms. Su to the Chengguan Town Police Station. She may have been transferred to the Pan County Detention Center.
Ms. Su was taken into custody on January 21, 2000, and taken to Zhongba Women's Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province in April 2000. Starting early in 2001, she served the rest of her forced labor term outside the labor camp.
In 2002, just prior to the wedding of Ms. Su's third daughter, the Pan County police detained her. She went on a hunger strike for 20 days in the detention center and was taken to Zhangba Women's Forced Labor Camp for a term of three months.

31. [Jilin Province] Yongji County Police Department, 610 Office, and the Domestic Security Division Extort Huge Amount of Cash from Practitioners
From the end of 2007 to March 2008, the Yongji County 610 Office, the Yongji County Police Department, and the Domestic Security Division have unlawfully taken into custody several practitioners, searched the practitioners' homes, and extorted cash from their families totaling tens of thousands of yuan. Many of the families have had all of their money taken by the authorities. Ms. Zhang Fengru has no source of income and she picks up garbage with her husband in order to make a living. The following practitioners are among those who have had money extorted from them: Ms. Sun Xiaomei (extorted 10,000 yuan); Mr. Zhu Yeguang (20,000 yuan); Mr. Zhang Fengrong (8,000 yuan); Ms. Li Yanfang (5,000 yuan); practitioner Wang (5,000 yuan). Mr. Xu Qiang remains in custody.
32. [Yunnan Province] Ms. Li Wenying Held in Custody
Ms. Li Wenying, in her 50s, was an employee of Phosphorus Mine in the Kunyang area in Guizhou Province. When she returned to her hometown to spend the Chinese New Year season, around February 7, 2008, she did not return to the Kunyang area. It has been recently reported that she has been taken into custody for clarifying the truth.
