On the night of April 23, 2008, the police in Changsha City arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Xianggu at her home and took away her personal belongings including a computer. On April 24, she was transferred to Changsha City Detention Center. This is the eighth time Ms. He Xianggu was arrested. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. She had been detained twice in mental hospitals three times in forced labor camps.
On the morning of March 18, 2008, Mr. Sun Pinghua was arrested by the police in Yueyang City, Hunan Province. He was interrogated under torture for several days and nights while in detention.
A 12 year-old boy who suffered a severe case of food poisoning was not able to see his parents at his last moment of life, Because his parents were jailed for practicing Falun Gong. Both of them were not allowed to attend their son's funeral.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Fan Dezhen was arrested and brutally beaten several times. On April 20, 2008, he was tortured to death at Suizhong County Detention Center in Liaoning Province. His family requested to see his remains. However, the police performed autopsy and cremated Mr. Fan's remains without permission from his family members to destroy the incriminating evidence.
Mr Lu Renqing was subject to both torture and hard labor. He was not hospitalized for several monthes after being diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Neither Mr. Qi's family nor his employer are notified of his arrest.
Mr. Yang Gui is disabled. He and his family in Dadongying Village, Doumen Township, Huaiyang County, Henan Province, have been persecuted again and again by the CCP over the last nine years because they persist in their belief in Falun Gong. Yang Gui and his brother, Yang Chao, were illegally sentenced and are still being held in forced labor camps. His sister, Yang Liu, was arrested by the police and beaten. His uncle, Jian Yongjun, was sentenced. Both of his parents have died.
Several dozen practitioners were arrested for trying to meet on May 9, 2007. After nearly one year of detention, four of them were given long sentences.
Mr. Zhou Ning, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jinan City, Shandong Province, was illegally arrested on September 12, 2007. Since then he has been detained and persecuted in the Jining City Detention Center. At present, he has been sent to the Affiliated Hospital to Jining Medical College for recovery. He is in critical condition.
Mr. Lei Zhengxia and his wife Li Weiqun were abused by the police, because the couple told some students the truth about the CCP's propaganda against Falun Gong. Mr. Lei sustained two broken ribs and hemorrhaged internally, and had to take surgery in a hospital.
