(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 35 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 7 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 80 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Tan Lian Taken into Custody
On March 14, 2008, Ms. Tan Lian, a practitioner in Foshan City, was taken into custody by officers in Liwan District, Guangzhou City. Her home was searched. Ms. Tan is being held at the Guangzhou Detention Center.
2. [Xiangfan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Jingping, Mr. Zhao Guojiang, and Mr. Chen Xinan Remain in Custody
Ms. Hu Gaoying, Mr. Zhu Guangyuan and Mr. Jiang Donglin, who were taken into custody in March 2008, have returned home. Ms. Li Jingping, Mr. Zhao Guojiang, and Mr. Chen Xinan remain in custody.
3. [Jinan City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Qinghua Taken into Custody
On April 5, 2008, Mr. Wang Qinghua, a practitioner in Jinan City, and his sister-in-law Ms. Wang Qing were taken into custody while distributing truth-clarification materials; Mr. Wang was visiting his hometown.
4. [Guang'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Ni Chuanlian Taken into Custody
On April 8, 2008, Ms. Ni Chuanlian, a practitioner in Baishi Town, Guang'an City, was taken into custody at her home by the state security police. Ms. Ni is being held at the Guang'an Detention Center.

6. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] A Truth-Clarification Material Production Site Sabotaged in Jiangbei Area
At around 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2008, officers of the Jilin Province Police Department and the Crime Response Division of the Ningjiang No. 1 Police Department broke into a production site for Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials. The police took a printer with built-in copying and fax capabilities, a computer, another printer, and a large amount of paper and many blank DVDs. The police took the owners, Mr. Jiang and his wife (neither of whom is a practitioner), to the Shanyou Detention Center.
At around 9:00 p.m. on April 21, four practitioners were taken to the Shanyou Detention Center.
7. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Cao Xiangling, Her Husband and Their Daughter Taken into Custody
Ms. Cao Xiangling, 51, lives in Duerbote Mongolian Autonomous County. At around 7:00 p.m. on April 18, 2008, half a dozen police officers from the county domestic security division broke into her home. The police took her family of three into custody and searched their home. Ms. Cao's husband and daughter have been released on parole. Ms. Cao remains at the Dumeng County Detention Center.
8. [Anhua County, Hunan Province] Mr. Chen Xianpan and His Daughter Ms. Chen Ruizhen Taken into Custody
On April 18, 2008, Mr. Chen Xianpan, about 80 years old, and her daughter, Ms. Chen Ruizhen, in her fifties, went to Malu Town in Anhua County to distribute truth-clarification materials. The Anhua County police took them into custody. The two practitioners are being held at the Anhua County Detention Center.
9. [Anhua County, Hunan Province] Ms. Guo Xihua Remains in Custody at Detention Center
Ms. Guo Xihua, in her forties, is an employee of the Meicheng Town Hospital in Anhua County. Ms. Guo was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor in 2004 for clarifying the truth.
On February 15, 2008, Ms. Guo Xihua was taken into custody again while she was clarifying the truth. She is being held at the Anhua County Detention Center.

10. [Wuxue City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhu Weihong, a Practitioner in Meichuan Town, Taken into Custody by Officers of Meichuan Police Station at a Supermarket on April 20, 2008.
11. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shao Changfu and Ms. Fu Lihong Taken into Custody
On the evening of April 19, 2008, Mr. Shao Changfu and Ms. Fu Lihong in Fuyu County, Songyuan City, went to downtown Songyuan City for business. The two practitioners were taken into custody by the Songyuan police. Their homes were searched the following day.
12. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Peng Guangbing Taken into Custody
At around 5:00 p.m. on April 18, 2008, officers from the Shuyuan Street Police Station broke into Mr. Peng Guangbing's home. They searched Mr. Peng's home, confiscated Falun Dafa books and materials, and took him to the police station.
13. [Jingxing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Huo Moying and Two Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On the afternoon of April 14, 2008, Ms. Huo Moying, in her sixties, and Ms. Liang Baozhen, in her seventies, were taken into custody by officers of the Tianchang Town Police Station. Their homes were unlawfully searched. On the morning of April 17, Mr. Zhang Quanxi was taken into custody by officers of the Xiulin Town Police Station. His home was searched as well. The three practitioners are being held at two different detention centers.

14. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Ju Xinglian and Three Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On April 17 and 18, 2008, officers from the Jiuzhai Town Police Station in Mengyin County and from the Mengyin County Police Department broke into several practitioners' homes. The police took into custody Mr. Ju Xinglian, Mr. Ju Dianxing, Mr. Song Zengrong, and Mr. Zhang Yubao. The four practitioners are being held at a detention center.
15. [Jingyu County, Jilin Province] Mr. Leng Fuyun and Family Secretly Sentenced to Prison
Jingyu County practitioners Mr. Leng Fuyun, Mr. Leng Jingtao, and Ms. Jiang Chunmei were taken into custody in January 2007. They have been unlawfully held at the Jingyu County Detention Center. It has been reported that Mr. Leng's family has been secretly sentenced to prison. Mr. Leng Fuyun and Mr. Leng Jingtao have been taken to a prison in Changchun City, Jilin Province. Ms. Jiang Chunmei has been taken to Siping City, Jilin Province.
16. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qin Xiuli Taken into Custody
At around 3:00 p.m. on April 23, 2008, Ms. Qin Xiuli was taken from her home by the Domestic Security Division of the Dongchang Police Department.
17. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Yanxia and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
Between 11:00 a.m. and noon on April 22, 2008, Ms. Gao Yanxia and Ms. Yuan Qing, who work at the polyethylene factory in Daqing City, were taken into custody at their homes. The police also searched their homes. The two practitioners are being held at the Daqing City No. 1 Detention Center.
Earlier in the month, Mr. Du Dewu, his mother Ms. Ma, and Mr. Du Deping, who all work at the Jiuqing Farm Brigade south of the polyethylene factory, were taken into custody by the police.
18. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Hou Chunhua Taken into Custody
At around 6:00 p.m. on April 23, 2008, Ms. Hou Chunhua was taken from her home by several police officers from the Jilin City Police Department and the Hadawan Police Station.
19. [Manzhouli City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Jiang Yuhui Remains in Custody
On April 9, 2008, officers of the Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office in Manzhouli City took three practitioners into custody. One has been released; Ms. Jiang Yuhui remains in custody.
20. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Mingwei Taken into Custody Again
On the afternoon of April 21, 2008, Mr. Liu Mingwei was turned in to the police while clarifying the truth. He was taken into custody by officers of the Desheng Police Station in Chuanying District, Jilin City. Mr. Liu is being held at the Jilin City Detention Center.
21. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Dewen, His Wife Ms. Gao Defen and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
At 3:30 p.m. on April 18, 2008, Mr. Wang Dewen and his wife Ms. Gao Defen were taken into custody by officers of the Jiapigou Town Police Station. The police also confiscated a computer and other personal items. Ms. Yu Shuqing and her husband were also taken into custody.

At around 3:00 p.m. on April 17, 2008, Ms. Luan Cuilian, a practitioner in her sixties, was taken into custody at the Zhaoyuan City Exhibition Center.
25. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hou Yuhua Taken into Custody
On April 3, 2008, Ms. Hou Yuhua was taken into custody by officers of the Zhenxing Street Police Station in Huaiyin District while she was clarifying the truth in the Wulipaifang area. Her whereabouts are unknown.

26. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Mr. He Zongyin Taken into Custody
On the evening of April 21, 2008, Mr. He Zongyin, a practitioner in his sixties who lives in the Xiayingfang area in Shuangqiao District, Chengde City, was taken into custody by the police while he was clarifying the truth in the Zhulinsi Residential Community in the downtown area. At around 9:00 a.m. on April 22, the police searched his home.
27. [Huixian City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhao Lianshan and Another Practitioner Held in Custody
On April 22, 2008, Mr. Zhao Lianshan, who lives in Beiliu Village in Nanzhai Township, Huixian City, and Ms. Ping Meihua went to Linzhou City to clarify the truth. They were taken into custody by the Linzhou City police and held at the Linzhou City Detention Center.
28. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Peng Qiaoyun Taken into Custody
In early April 2008, Ms. Peng Qiaoyun, a practitioner who retired from the Deyang City No. 2 Heavy Industrial Group Company, was on-board a train on the way back to her hometown. She was taken into custody by officers of Chengdu Railroad Police Department for clarifying the truth. She is being held in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Her DVDs and other truth-clarification materials were taken by the police.
29. [Baiyin City, Gansu Province] Police Take Practitioners into Custody and Search Their Homes
On the afternoon of April 22, 2008, the Baiyin City Police Department and the Pingchuan District Police Department launched a coordinated campaign to search practitioners' homes and take them into custody. The following practitioners are among those who have been taken into custody: Ms. Xu Xiaoying, Ms. Chen Fanghua, Mr. Zhang Sanzhuan, Ms. Yang Ruihong, Ms. Yang Hongxia, Mr. Wang Genfa, and Ms. Bai Yujun.
30. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Ji Remains in Custody
At the beginning of April 2008, Ms. Ji, who lives in the Wushijiazi area in Linxi County, Chifeng City, was taken into custody. Two of her relatives in Aobao Village, who are not practitioners, were also taken into custody and later released after the authorities fined them 3,000 yuan.
31. [Xinyi City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Lu Anwu Taken into Custody
On April 14, 2008, Mr. Lu Anwu, a teacher at the Shuikou Town Elementary School in Xinyi City, under the jurisdiction of Maoming City, was on his way home when officers from the Xinyi City 610 Office, the police department, and the domestic security division took him into custody. Mr. Lu is being held at the Xinyi City Detention Center.
32. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Mr. Peng Huanan Taken to Brainwashing Center
Mr. Peng Huanan, 63, is a practitioner in Suizhou City, Hubei Province. At around 8:00 a.m. on March 17, 2008, eight police officers from the Suizhou City 610 Office, the domestic security division, and the police department took him from the fruit store that he owns to a brainwashing center in Wuhan City, Hubei Province.
33. [Hubei Province] Five Practitioners, including Ms. Zhu Lin, Taken into Custody
Between noon and 1:00 p.m. on March 31, 2008, officers from the Hongshan Street Police Station went to practitioner Ms. Xu's home in the Wutaizha area in Wuchang City to take five practitioners, including Ms. Zhu Lin, into custody.
34. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Wang Huizhen Taken into Custody on the Morning of April 23, 2008; Her Whereabouts Remain Unknown
35. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Taken into Custody
In mid-March 2008, Ms. Guo, in her sixties, was taken into custody while she was clarifying the truth in the Ito-Yokado department store on Chunxi Road, Chengdu City. Ms. Guo is being held at the Xinjin Brainwashing Center in Chengdu City.
36. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Jia Taken into Custody Again
In November 2007, Ms. Liu Jia was taken into custody again by the Chengdu City 610 Office and the Chengdu City State Security Division. Her home was unlawfully searched. Ms. Liu is being held at the Chengdu City Detention Center.
On December 31, 2000, Ms. Liu went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was subsequently sentenced to two years of forced labor.
37. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liu Yangxiu Taken into Custody
At around the end of February 2008, officers from the Guangzhou City 610 Office, the police department, and the local police station went to the Guangzhou City No. 8 People's Hospital and took Ms. Liu Yangxiu into custody. Ms. Liu has been held at a brainwashing facility since then.
38. [Beijing] Additional Information on Mr. Yan Kezhong's Detention
Mr. Yan Kezhong is a handicapped practitioner who lives in the Yanshuijiayuan Residential Community in the Nancaiyuan area in Yanqing County. On the evening of April 19, 2008, the police took him into custody. Mr. Yan was later taken to a detention center. On the morning of April 21, three residential committee officials led domestic security division police officers to search his home. The officers took copies of a weekly publication and a couple of amulets.
39. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Changyu Taken into Custody
On the afternoon of April 15, 2008, Ms. Liu Changyu, a practitioner working in the Wangjiang Factory in Chongqing, and Ms. Ye were distributing truth-clarification DVDs at someone's home. Plainclothes police officers took them into custody. Ms. Liu's whereabouts are unknown.
40. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Shaoli Taken into Custody
On April 19, 2008, Ms. Ma Shaoli, a practitioner in Yangjiazhuangzi Village in Longjiajuan Township, Yishui County, was taken into custody at Longjiajuan Elementary School by officials of the Longjia Township General Management Office.
41. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Xu Peng, Ms. Deng Xianru, and Ms. Zheng Yanmei Taken into Custody on April 22, 2008
42. [Longquan City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Shen Xiaoping Sentenced to 42 Months in Prison
Ms. Shen Xiaoping, 43, is a practitioner in Longquan City. On August 19, 2007, officers of the Longquan City Domestic Security Division smashed open her door and broke into her home to take her into custody. Ms. Shen was unlawfully held at the Longquan City Detention Center.
She was secretly placed on trial twice. Ms. Shen was transferred to the Zhejiang Province Women's Prison after being sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term.
43. [Qing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Jufang and Ms. Zhang Shuqin Taken into Custody
At around 10:00 a.m. on April 14, 2008, Ms. Wang Jufang and Ms. Zhang Shuqin went to the lobby of the Qing County branch of China Industrial and Commercial Bank to distribute truth-clarification materials and DVDs. State security officers followed them and forcibly took them to the county's domestic security division.
At around 3:00 p.m. the same day, the police called their husbands. Their husbands went to the police department without knowing why and were forced to pay 3,000 yuan each before Ms. Wang and Ms. Zhang were released.
44. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wei Bensheng Taken into Custody in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province
Mr. Wei Bensheng, a practitioner who works in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, went to Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province on a business trip. He was taken into custody by the local domestic security officers while clarifying the truth in Jiangdu County, Yangzhou City. He is being held at a detention center in Yangzhou City.
45. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Bao Yinfu and Several Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
On April 18, 2008, the Xianning City police took into custody Mr. Bao Yinfu, Mr. Nie Entang, Mr. Shao Zhongren, Ms. Jiang Caihong, and Mr. Chen Xiaodong. The practitioners are being held at the Xian'an District Detention Center in Xianning City.
46. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Police Take into Custody Mr. Guan Houjun from Hengyang City, Hunan Province Working Odd Jobs in Foshan City
47. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Cao Xiangling Taken into Custody
At around 9:00 p.m. on April 17, 2008, Ms. Cao Xaingling, a practitioner in Taikang County, Daqing City, was taken to the local detention center. Ms. Cao's husband and their child were taken into custody as well before being released at around 4:00 p.m. the following day.
