(Clearwisdom.net) On June 14, 2008, in Lille, Falun Gong practitioners held activities in the center of Brunswick Square in Place Richebé. They displayed banners and posters depicting the cruel persecution of Falun Gong in China, and demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises. A large number of people stood and paid their respects. Practitioners distributed leaflets and collected many signatures condemning the persecution.
In 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a comprehensive crackdown on Falun Gong in China. Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners who persisted in their beliefs were illegally detained in forced labor camps, and even lost their lives.
Local residents said that "in France we can't even harm small animal, it's unimaginable that today in Chinese society there is still such a thing existing."

Some people asked what they could do to help practitioners in China. Others not only signed the petition opposing the persecution, but also invited friends from other places to sign. Many people said they hoped that the international community would put pressure on Communist China, and they condemned CCP atrocities. A university teacher said she would speak in the classroom to her students about these things. A university student said she would pass a petition to all her friends for their signatures. There were a number of people who had lived in communist countries, including East Germany and Algeria, and they expressed a full understanding of the evil true nature of communism.
People sign petition in support of efforts to end the persecution
On the same day, Lille Amnesty International organized a gathering about China's human rights abuses in the neighboring republic Square Place Rébublique. Many supporters of Amnesty International came to see the Falun Gong displays. They signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution. They invited practitioners to speak at their gathering about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Ms. Marie Holzman introduces the persecution in China and invites Falun Gong practitioner to speak
Marie Holzman, China Solidarity Association chairperson, also came to the
activities and accepted an interview by Sound of Hope Radio. She said that she
had followed Falun Gong over the years, and she saw the whole progress of Falun
Gong being persecuted by the Chinese communists. She observes that the
persecution continues unabated in China, and mentioned the death of musician Yu
Zhou and the arrest of his wife. Both practice Falun Gong. This is just one of
many examples that show that the persecution continues.
