Mr. Well of Durham comes to the festival every year. He is knowledgeable about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist regime. This year, when he saw the practitioners, he approached their booth and signed his name. His friend was surprised that the nine-year-long persecution is still going on.
Many people were delighted by the hand-made paper lotus flowers. They accepted the flowers and other materials and signed their names to support Falun Gong.
The Eno River Festival in Durham started in 1966. Since then, it has become a local tradition every Independence Day.
