(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Jiulong, age 50, lives in Gannan County of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. Both he and his wife are Falun Gong practitioners. When they went to Hebei Province to look for work, they were illegally arrested by Beijing police and detained at the local prison. Mr. Zhao was sentenced to three years in prison and his wife six years. It has been two years since the authorities first started persecuting this couple. Last year, in the name of preparing for the Olympic Games, the authorities transferred Mr. Zhao to Hulan Prison located in Heilongjiang Province. His wife was transferred to Harbin Women's Prison, also located in Heilongjiang Province.
When Mr. Zhao was first transferred to Hulan Prison, he was targeted by the training squad. The guards from the training squad encouraged four to five inmates to beat Mr. Zhao severely. Mr. Zhao was bleeding from the nose and mouth before he lost consciousness. When he was sent to the No. 12 team, he was abused by police officer Xu Zhiming, Lin Zhiguo, and team leader Zhao Jun. In March 2008, with only one month of Mr. Zhao's term remaining, the guards shaved his head by force. When Mr. Zhao objected, policeman Xu struck Mr. Zhao's head, face, and body with an electric baton, which did not discharge. Xu then switched to another baton with a higher voltage and struck Mr. Zhao again, but that one didn't discharge either.
On April 18, 2008, Mr. Zhao Jiulong was released and reunited with his two daughters. However, his wife is still suffering persecution in Harbin Women's Prison.
