On July 10, 2008, the Politics and Law Committee of Wangqing County, Jilin Province, the National Security Team of the County Police Department and the 610 Office implemented wide ranging arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in Wangqing County, using the "safety of the Olympics torch" in Yanji City as a reason.
Police from various local police stations knocked on Falun Gong practitioners' doors and deceived their family members by saying that they just wanted to take the practitioners to the local police station and would send them back home soon. Some directly went to the practitioners' work places and deceived those kind practitioners with a similar trick to direct them to various local police stations. After the practitioners went to the police stations, they were interrogated and forced to copy the related provisions of law that contained slanderous content about Falun Dafa. Only those that wrote the guarantee to no longer practice Falun Gong could go back home.
On July 10, 2008, at around 4:00 p.m., the police from Tianqiaoling Town,Wangqing County forcefully arrested a Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Yan Caixia at the town agriculture station. (Yan Caixia, about 35 years old, has a college degree and works for the Tianqiaoling Town government in Wangching County) The police broke into Yan Caixia's home, prying open the window with pliers to gain entry. On July 17, 2008, they handcuffed Yan Caixia's hands behind her back, prohibited her from wearing shoes and sent her to the notorious Heizuizi Labor Camp. This is the fourth time that Yan Caixia has been sent to a labor camp since the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. In the same camp, there is another practitioner, 34 year-old Ms. Liu Caixia who was taken from her work unit on June 24, 2008 by police from Tianqiaoling Town, Wangqing County who had conspired with the National Security Team in Wangqing County. Liu Caixia was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in a labor camp.
Around twenty Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. Those whose name are known include: Ms. Wang Shufen, Ms. Jin Zhenzi, Ms. Li Guihua, Mr. Zhang Shujun, Mr. Zheng Lijun, Mr. Li Youcun, Mr. (Mrs. ) Li, Ms. Lian Chunyue, Ms. Teng Kemei, Ms. Qian Yumei, Ms. Xu Jinshu, Ms. Xu Shuzi, Ms. Lin Junli, Ms. Lou Qiufeng and her daughter and so on. Most of these people are 60-70 years old. Some have difficulty in moving their hands and feet, some have wounds from torture, and one family has even a teenage child alone at home. The seized Falun Dafa practitioner's family members went to the Dachuan Police Station to request the police to release the practitioners. The family members were insulted and threatened by the police and one of them was nearly hit by the police.
The evening of the same day, the police bundled the group of kind Falun Gong practitioners into a bus and took them to the Mantianxing reservoir located nearby Sandaogou in Wangqing County. There were no residential houses around there, just a two-story building that belongs to the Wangqing County police. The gate sign said that this is the training base of the police in Wangqing County. The practitioners were imprisoned there for brainwashing and persecution. There were severe restrictions imposed on the practitioners involving their basic activities such as speech, movements and even going to the bathroom. Every action and every movement was followed by the police. They broadcast e CD's slandering Falun Dafa and forced the practitioners to read books slandering Falun Dafa. These Falun Gong practitioners were only allowed to go home on the night of July 16 after the end of the Olympic torch ceremonies in Yanji City. The police claimed that they would have the brainwashing classes conducted batch by batch.
