Sam Paris was born in Brazil and grew up in the US. His childhood was greatly influenced by the church because his mother is a devoted Christian. Later he formed his own views and understandings about God, religion and life. During his performance career over the past twenty years, Mr. Paris has performed with many renowned singing and dancing groups in New York, Paris and other places.
After seeing the Divine Performing Arts Spectacular in Sweden last April, he was deeply moved. He said, "The Spectacular seemingly brought me on a tour of the heavenly world. I felt like I had drunk a cup of pure water in the desert. Listening to the Chinese music, watching the classical Chinese dancing and being greatly excited by the majestic drumming of the Tang Dynasty, it was like an experience in another dimension. I will never forget it. I felt as if I was swimming in the sea of the universe, diving deep into the universe. At the end of my life, I can say with great satisfaction, 'Oh, I have seen it!'"
Seemingly by chance, Mr. Paris received a leaflet on the street earlier this year introducing the Divine Performing Arts Spectacular. He feels that this was not a coincidence. Although he has never been to China, none of his friends are Chinese and he doesn't speak Chinese, he has a deep affinity and admiration for the ancient traditional Chinese culture. The Chinese songs seem to have a mysterious power to awake deep-seated memories.
The benefit performance was very successful that day. Mr. Paris wants to donate all the proceeds from the performance to Divine Performing Arts, to express his support and gratitude. Sam Paris, his orchestra, his choir and the audience expressed their great interest in the Spectacular performance next year. Many said that they are looking forward to seeing Divine Performing Arts next spring when they return to Sweden. Sam hopes that people throughout the world will have the opportunity to appreciate this expression of true traditional Chinese culture. He said, "This is the most precious gift to the world."
