(Clearwisdom.net) The following letter from Canadian Parliament Member Bill Siksay to Giuliano Berretta, the president of Eutelsat, is in reference to the shutting down of NTDTV's broadcast signal into China by the satellite company.
Dear M. Berretta,
I am writing with regard to the interruption in Eutelsat satellite service to New Tang Dynasty Television which I understand started on June 16, 2008.
I am concerned about this development. I know that New Tang Dynasty
Television has made an important contribution to the free flow of information
and ideas around the world. As well, it is my understanding that many people,
especially in the People's Republic of China ( PRC), have come to
appreciate the services of New Tang Dynasty Television and the alternative
it provides to state television services. I would appreciate knowing when
this important service will be restored? What has led to this interruption? Has
the service been interrupted at the request or suggestion of the government of
PRC? I would also like to know if Eutelsat is planning to enable access to its
satellites to other
independent broadcasters.
Thank you for your attention to this correspondence. I look forward to your
reply.
Sincerely Yours
Bill Siksay, M.P.
