(Clearwisdom.net) NEW YORK - On the eve of the Chinese New Year, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) presented the Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, New York. Many Chinese people came to see this amazing show to bid farewell to the Year of the Rat and welcome the Year of the Ox.
Mr. Jiang, a former composer and conductor at the Shanghai Institute of Music and Drama, has resided in the United States for three years now. He's made a point of seeing the DPA show every year. "Because I am from the music and arts field and I enjoy art performances, you can say that my watching the DPA show can be from the expert's point of view," he said.
"The show is great!" Mr. Jiang enthused. "The dancers are wonderful. My favorite performance is 'Mulan Joins The Battle.' The directing, the performance and the setting are all magnificent!" "Mulan Joins The Battle" tells the story of how Mulan, in order to fulfill the twin Confucian duties as a daughter and in service to one's country, disguises herself as a man in order to take her ailing father's place in battle.
Mr. Jiang especially complimented Tenor soloist Hong Ming, "I loved the tenor's solo. His voice is especially bright and clear, it's rarely seen in the world. Is he a genius or is this from personal cultivation?" Mr. Jiang thought it had to be the combination of both. "It is incredible to reach this realm."
Mr. Jiang also praised the erhu musician Qi Xiaochun's performance, "She played so well. She played this two-stringed instrument with such a moving melody, very solid. It has to be from fine professional training since a very young age."
Mr. Jiang said the DPA music was so peaceful and graceful, "The conductor is very solid instead of being flashy." The Divine Performing Arts company of acclaimed musicians, composers and soloists includes an orchestra that successfully fuses Eastern and Western instruments in a most harmonious blend, delighting thousands of audience members across four continents.
