(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun performed their 2009 World Tour show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on April 6, 2009. Shen Yun was in Adelaide for two additional shows on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The impressive venue, known for its modern architecture and exemplary acoustic qualities, came alive with the sights and sounds of ancient China. Shen Yun left audience members in awe as ancient Chinese legends were brought to life through spectacular dance, song, and vibrant costumes. Shen Yun performances also convey the deeply moral and spiritual traditions of ancient China. Individual audience members stopped to speak to interviewers to share their impressions of the show.

When asked for their thoughts about the show, it was obvious that retirees Mr. and Mrs. Nealyon were moved by this unique performance. Mr. Nealyon said, "I think the show was absolutely wonderful. The production was marvelous! We enjoyed every bit of it. And the costumes, magnificent! And the colors were just excellent!" Mrs. Nealyon was likewise impressed, "I'd love to see it again!"

Mr. Nealyon, who hosts his own radio show, was equally impressed, "What more can I say? But just to say, the whole production--the dancers, the costumes, the projection--everything was perfect. It was really fantastic... Although none of it [the dancing] was spoken, we were still able to gain the meaning of it, and I think the wisdom was clear in the words that we did see with the captions. I think it's tremendous. And a lot of it does apply to today's climate and the problems that we have."

He was touched by the messages expressed through the dances, "I think the message it did bring home was that sometimes we overlook the things that we have. We're looking for other things out there in the world, but perhaps they are closer than we think."

Hank works in the production department of an ethnic radio station, and he became aware of Shen Yun coming to Adelaide through the station's promotion of the show. Hank came with his wife, Jan, a schoolteacher. Jan especially enjoyed the dancing in the show. "There's a lot of variety. I like dance, myself; so I'm particularly interested in the dances. I'm very impressed by the depth of the techniques of the Chinese classical dance."

Hank especially enjoyed the visual aspects of the show. He said, "What impressed me a lot was the background visuals, and how they merged the backgrounds into the actual performances."

He also said that the show offered different perspectives, which inspired personal reflection. "It has little to do with radio, but as a show, I think it's quite spectacular. It's colorful, fun, and encourages a bit of reflection, to think about things. That's the way I look at it." He thought that Shen Yun portrayed traditional Chinese culture very well. "This performance highlights the spiritual aspect of the culture, which is integral, as it is the divine side. For example, the portrayal of Buddhas and gods in both the background and in the dances."

Graphic designer Ms. Jachimowska graduated from the University of Poland with a master's degree in fine art. While majoring in Japanese culture, she became interested in Asian culture. "I loved the music. And, also, I loved the dance, probably more than the music, but also the costumes. I'm pretty arty, and it looked great--an amazing arrangement!"

Ms. Jachimowska said, "Oh, the colors! They were very good. The way it's done, and the computer using the sort of graphics and the animations. I didn't expect that. I was thinking of the old kind, rather than using technology, so that was a surprise. It's a lot of tradition and culture, but on the other hand, the actual set blends into the background." She was impressed by the costumes: "I'm not a costume designer, but I think the costumes are very good. Every single costume is just amazing!"

She particularly enjoyed the dance elements of the performance. She commented, "I learned a little bit more about these stories. The way they translate the lyrics, it's very classical, but it's [also] very poetic."
